Do you think injecting hot water in the pre-turbo exhaust help reduce turbo lap? Water has a 1600 to 1 expansion rate when change from a liquid to a gas.

No. The energy to convert a liquid to a gas has to come from somewhere. By taking heat from the exhaust it is cooled. Cooling the exhaust reduces its volume and slows its velocity.

Exhaust water injection pre-turbine has been done successfully. The downside seems to be (in theory) that the water droplets will damage the turbine blades.

Found this thread, and wanted to send some info your way about the direct injection of water

http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=202520

Also, the injection of water after the turbo has been used for PWC, and MSD makes a kit. It is a way of tuning exhaust.

The extra power comes from burning the alcohol, not steam expansion. Straight water adds no power at all except cooler intake temps.

Finished the machining and assembly tonight...took forever but it was worth it

McMaster-Carr for parts, came out to around $80; then forever in the shop:
cleaning the manifold
tapping the manifold
threading the injectors
making the adapters
assembling

The temperature gauge is from a Ford Explorer(Had to stick something on the EGR plate, right?

I'll be using a shurflo 150psi pump to power it.

More later on......

FI, are you still using your alcohol pump? If not, I'll buy it off you.

I'm going to go ahead and try this modification out anyways(pending paycheck), but I'll probably end up injecting much more alcohol than the 300cc/min

What plans do you have FI? Coz I can't understand it from the links you posted. I read only that Dave didn't get any decrease in egts.

What's the advantage? Better atomization with smaller injectors? Also, wouldn't the water have more time to evaporate if injected right after the turbo rather than at the intake manifold?

How so? The other ports feed 2 cylinders so they are running 2gph each, wouldn't it be best to run 1gph for the last cylinder?

Unless the nozzles extend into the runners, the turbulent airflow in the manifold will blow the vapor around.

It looks great! Don't let the negativity get you down. I don't think you'll have cylinder imbalance problems. Keep us posted on further developments, and thanks for pushing the envelope a little further.
