I got a chance to do something today and got the turbo oil pump gear on the NA oil pump drive shaft.

Now I have to make a spacer plate to compensate for the taller pump gears.

Your previous turbo attempts, you mentioned a decrease in oil pressure? This was at throttle or idle? Curious what your readings were. I assume this will solve for it?

Idle oil pressure was reduced with just adding the turbo (no piston squirters yet).

I expect the idle oil pressure with the hybrid oil pump and the piston squirters to be close to the same as with just the turbo and stock oil pump.

I personally would not attempt to use piston squirters and a turbo with a stock 616 oil pump. The 20 psi cutoff function of the squirter would help keep the idle pressure from crashing, but I would have to see what the full power oil pressure would be like before considering a stock 616 oil pump. The Squirters pull oil directly off of the main gallery that feeds the mains and rods.

You must be pretty close now… what’s your timeline looking like? I’m very excited to see this in action.

LOL... I am a long way from getting to building up the actual engine. I picked up a clean 123 and have to freshen up a head, pull the engine out of the retired car, replace the head and put that engine in the new 123.

Then I probibly should turn my focus onto the 616. The 617a donor engine has been in the way for 5 years and after chatting with Greazzer about it I decided it was time to get that engine torn down, measure the block and get rid of it.. and then finally use the 616 test block and get rid of that to make some room.

I also want to do some testing to see how much the oil pump load affects the timing advance curve. I did not think about that until recently. The increased oil pump load may require some changes to the advance device to make it work how I want it to.

I still need to verify the actual cutter diameter of the cutter I used to mod the block so I can accurately post a drawing of the squirter pad and holes. I took a beaten up tool I had and modified it to do the mod, but I forgot why I stopped using that tool lol.. the tool has been beaten up to the point the inserts moved inward so it is no longer a 1 inch dia cutter lol..
