I had one too. I dubbed mine "Mazcedes". I didn't do the swap. I bought it as is. I had to complete the driveline. Mine was an OM603 powered B200 2wd. The MB auto transmission stayed with the motor. It topped out at about 65-70, but got there faster than hell.

Wow, that's one of the cleanest-looking engine swaps I've ever seen. It looks like it belongs in there.

that looks like they did a good job .
I didnt think it was worth doing unless it was a 4x4 .
and i hate auto trannys . so i mated the 617 to the mazda 5 speed ,
1/4" plate adapter . and the mazda flywheel is bolted to the M/B auto flywheel .

They botched the driveshaft. Literally cut the mb shaft and welded it to the mazda shaft. Of course I didn't realize until I bought it... And about ten minutes down the road I hit 50 mph and the shaft blew up. I lived south of indy and bought the truck in Chicago. I about 5 hours away. I had a race shop make me a one piece and had another shop put it in. I was scared to drive over 50 in it ever since. driveshafts sound life threatening when they snap.

I wondered how you kept the 4x4. Is speed and acceleration good? Speedo pick up usually matches the rear end. When messing with Datsun As, I had a chart & could match speedo cog to any Z diff from 70 - 83 models.

I have driven the original 2.2 diesel mazda motor B2200D pickup truck and it was really really sturdy, it was a company provision but I recall during oil changes that it required 2 oil filters and 2 large spin on diesel filters.
