Arrow Houston, TX Area Winter 2008 GTG, February 9, 2008

It's been a while since we've done something locally. So, here goes. The Winter 2008 Houston area MB GTG will be held on February 9, 2008. I've decided to do something a little different this time around. We'll meet at the Cracker Barrel at 18151 Katy Fwy for breakfast at 8:30am. Attending the breakfast is optional. If you do not wish to attend the breakfast, just meet up at the Cracker Barrel parking lot by 9:45am. We will depart at 10am and go to the Sterling McCall Old Car Museum in Round Top, TX. Traffic and weather permitting, we expect to arrive in Round Top around 11:30am. Admission to the museum is $5 for adults, $3 for kids. If we can get more than 10 people to come in our group, we can get a discounted admission rate. After that, we'll head back home (or to other destinations) at our own pace. Since it's about the same distance from Austin to the museum as it is from Houston, we're inviting fellow MB owners from Austin to come down and join us for some vintage autos and fun. Bring the family along and make this a nice outing. Make sure your MBs are up for the "journey". Get that oil changed, those belts adjusted, those tires rotated, fill that fuel tank up, bring the camera and come along!

Addresses:

Departure Point:
Cracker Barrel
18151 Katy Fwy.
Houston, TX 77094-1208

The Cracker Barrel is located on the eastbound side of the freeway. If you're coming from the east, take the Greenhouse exit, make the u-turn and it's right before Barker Cypress. If you're coming from the west, just take the Barker Cypress exit. Of course, if you want detailed directions from your house, Mapquest will be able to provide that. Due to the ongoing construction along the Katy Freeway, keep an eye out for lane closures. Periodically monitor this site: Lane Closures / Construction Updates, so that you may take an alternate route to the departure point should a lane closure occur on the freeway that weekend.

Destination:
Sterling McCall Old Car Museum
4214 S. State Highway 237
Round Top, TX 78954-5173
Museum Website: http://www.oldcarcountry.com

RSVP in this thread: Houston, TX Area Winter 2008 GTG, February 9, 2008.

LOL.... lets remember that that day is the first one after we CHANGE THE CLOCKS....
One hour late or early ( and conclude no one was coming) could mean driving alone... LOL

Whahappened Greg? Slip up on your meds?

I have to say regrets in that I can't make it...hauling 400+ square bales to the barn that day and have to be at a cattle consortium meeting that night in Lexington.

Yall keep in mind that the time zones and daylight savings is not determined by the sun... it is legislated... wasn't it MOVED last year several weeks last year ? I looked at the wrong month ... but am flexible to wait for what happens new this year...

This morning on the Austin CBS channel... Texas Country Reporter had a segment on a " PIE MAN " in ROUNDTOP TEXAS....

Sure looked like good food.... what good luck to happen a week before the GTG...

Greg

Who all is going? Its quite a drive for me but I'd be willing to do it if I know there will be a decent turnout? How about we RSVP right here on the post?
