Hi guys...
I went to the BMW experience thing yesterday,(I guess it's offered all around the world). It's basically the same thing BMW offers to M5 owners in Spartanburg, except that instead of using M5's, they use every single model in their line up. No, they did not have the new M3, but they did have the Z8. The event was held at the Yongin race track in Korea. We started off the day going through some lectures on ABS, ASC, DSC and some other stuff. The trainer was once a European Champion and 2 time Austrian champion. I don't know if he drove F1 or not, but his driving skills were very impressive. The workshop was basically the same thing as the one that some guy posted on the BMW M5 b-board
www.bmwm5.com But the only difference is that we had a Lap time competition and slalom
competition. I got the best lap time and ended up fifth for the slalom course.
I got a diecast Z8 replica toy car and 4 liters of Castrol motor oil. Besides that we got BMW hats, shirts and sunglasses. It was cool that I got to test drive the full BMW line up. The cars I liked the most were the M-Roadster and the 750iL. I heard some guy wrecked a 750iL in the other session. Anyways, we ended the day going around a lap with the instructor in the Passenger seat. The instructor was going all out in the Z8. Although I wasn't behind the steering wheel, I could feel the car has massive power. But I would never buy the car even if I had the money. Honestly, the Z8 is a nice overall roadster, but I feel that it just isn't the ultimate driving machine that everyone thinks it is.
