My 300E oem exhaust is completely rusted from the cat back. I am looking to replace it w/ high performance after market. I would prefer stainless BOLT ON. The only place that has 300e exhaust, that I know off, is Performance product. They only stock Remus and its not stainless.

which other company deals with 300e exhaust? (web page would be great)

What do u fellow benz owners have on your 300e and what iss your evaluation?

thankyou!

Did you try the obvious? PartShop or Fastlane on top of this screen. Support these people and their great site plus, prices and service are not bad at all.

I have!

all i got was a bunch of prices, unfamiliar brand, and part numbers. I am suppose to order something that i havent seen or heard off? I havent even seen those brands mentioned on any of the exhaust related post and i have read the majority of the posts.

I am new to this board, i stumbled on to it by accident. I would love to support it but have u seen performance product cataloge lately? A picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, a thousand $1000.

Hi: I went through the same questions you did about 2 years ago on this site. I have found everything I have ordered here to be MB approved/OE/OEM quality manufacturers. Great service and quality. The mufflers listed in Fastlane like ANSA are names I recognize as replacement parts on mufflers from when I looked for mine. My local MB dealer told me to save my money and go to a particular QUALITY local muffler shop - not a Midas, rather than buying an MB muffler like the ones from the dealership and Fastlane (I wasn't going to be able to install it myself, otherwise this site would have been my least expensive choice ). My MB tech referred me to the same muffler shop, so that is what I did.

If it is performance you want, do a search on exhausts. A number of people have substituted a y pipe for the center muffler, some have investigated performance cats, others have debated the different types of performance rear mufflers and tips. The impression I got was that unless big bucks were ALSO being spent on the intake side of the engine, and maybe the cam as well, not a lot of difference (5-10hp) would be obtained by the expensive mufflers and exhaust systems.

For durability (stainless), a lot of people mentioned Timevalve - they also make a stainless Y pipe for these cars. This is if you don't want to mess with exhaust for another 15 years, and are planning on keeping the car that long. It doesn't necessarily mean they are high performance. Their web site is http://www.timevalve.com/

Hope this helps!

BTW, I am on the mailing list for Performance catalogs - they carry ANSA mufflers as well, just like this site. Their prices on parts are usually higher for the same part by the same supplier, in my experience. Those pictures cost money. Their sister catalog, Precision, has even prettier pictures, and even higher prices.

Well, I do not know how much you want to spend but, go to http://www.bekkers.com. They have a stainless muffler. So does AMG, Brabus, CEC, Renntech, etc. You can also go to http://www.benzsport.com where they found a cheap alternative. In MB land, it all depends what you want and how much you are willing to spend...Good luck with your hunting and welcome to MercedesShop.

I have read a few post that mentioned this Y thing. From what I understand, when u order an exhaust system it should include every thing from the cat back. Right?

Why would I need a Y thing?

Have a good Easter to everyone!

The "Y" pipe people talk about is used in place of the center muffler - the one that has 2 pipes entering from the engine, and 1 pipe exiting to the rear muffler. Rather like this =[ ]- . The Y pipe is just 2 pipes from the engine/cats welded together to a single pipe going to the rear muffler, but with no ability to muffle sound, like this >-. The thought is for less back pressure, more sporty exhaust noise, eliminate the weight and cost of the center muffler, whatever.
Where are you ordering an "exhaust system"? Don't you have to specify the part number of each section (Header pipes, Cats, exhaust pipes, center muffler, tail pipe, rear muffler?). If you have to specify all the parts, you would just leave out the center muffler if you want a Y pipe.
Again, you ought to do an in depth search on the exhaust topic, as a number of people seem to feel it is pretty good from the factory, unless you want more noise or chrome tips, and that you can put the money towards more performance in other areas and have a better return on investment.

JCE, thanks!

Since AMG and the other high end turners dont offer much for the 300E, im going with Performance Product, they have Remus exhaust in stock. I have also order the complete stainless set up, from the cat to middle resonator, from the helpful folks at Timevalve. I think the entire set up totaled about $1400 with shiping. Money wasnt a big issue. My main concern was product appearance, proper fitment, and product availability. I would have prefer the Remus to be stainless but u cant have everything. I only wished that other turners would not make it so dificult to aquire parts for the 300E. Most of them only specialize in the newer models. Once again, thanks to everyone who responded!

Next upgrade..... I got my EYE on the sportline kit.... already spoke to Rusty about it....
