It goes "pssssssssssst" but you can barely hear it. Then again, I haven't revved to 7000 then upshifted yet...

Major scare yesterday evening: I was driving along when the oil warning light came on (temp and level were both fine on the gauges), a few blocks later a little bit of smoke started to emerge from the bonnet. As I parked the car and got out, I saw a trail leading to a huge puddle of engine oil beneath the car.
I opened the bonnet and hoped that it wasn't the head gasket. Couldn't spot the source of the leak, from where the oil was appearing, it seemed to be coming from underneath the turbos somewhere.
I called Geoff (my mechanic) and he arrived 10mins later to check it out but couldn't identify the source either and called a truck to tow it back to his workshop (only one suburb over thankfully).
I just picked the car up this morning and all is good again. The oil drain beneath the front turbo had sprung a leak at the turbo connection. Geoff has now rerouted this oil line which he is confident will prevent the same thing happening again.

I'm not sure if I missed it but did you decide to change the turbo's ? My Mosselman kit came with T2's and they ran out of puff pretty quickly. I have now changed to GT28's and am hoping for a big improvement

More vids please......

I'm still using the twin T2 units which came with the kit. They seem to be providing enough power. Have a look at the dyno chart a few pages back, it shows the boost pressure up to 5800rpm. Even though boost pressure was declining, power was still increasing.

More vids to come soon. Another 1000km and the engine will be ready for 7000rpm

@ Ortolan: how much is your engine compression? 9:1 or higher?

How high is your turbo boost pressure?

And what you have on engine optimized? Pistons/ Connecting rod´s, or what?

Many thanks for your andwort and beautiful grüsse from germany

Compression is 8.9:1 I think, I will get the exact ratio soon.
Boost is set to a maximum of 1 bar.
Engine has C36 crankshaft, shortened Turbo Technics conrods and forged Oettinger pistons.

Only 150km remaining, which I'll do today. The car goes back to my mechanic tomorrow to fix all the remaining issues and get a final dyno tune.
Next weekend I'll film a 0-100km/h run. Then I need to get out to a dragstrip to film a 1/4 mile run.

I just spoke with John @ MB of Beaconfield, and it looks like I'll be buying an m103 kit for my '87 300e. They have four kits left for the 12 valve cars and four for the 24 valve CIS m104's. My only hold up right now is getting the whole assembly mailed across the Atlantic to California. For the guys that arranged shipping on their kits, how much did it cost you and who did you use? As soon as I can get the shipping all arranged I'll have one of these on its way!
Thanks!

Regards,
Scott

It cost me $633.53 for door to door service from Hughes to my home in Delaware.
That included customs brokerage and duty fees.
The kit including exhaust weighs about 79KG.

Contact an international freight forwarder who can pick up at Hughes and deliver to you.
I used Nippon Express USA, because I do business with them on a daily basis.

Save yourself time and money and read my posts on the M103-12V install.

Some parts don't fit and have to be modified, and others as the supplied fuel enrichment electronics should not be used, and replaced with a Split second AIC1-A2L additional injector controller.
You also want to modernize the intake and boost piping along with using a K&N panel filter.

Do it right and you'll see low five second 0-60 times !!!

Ed, what launch technique are you using to achieve the best 0-60mph time? I tried two runs last weekend on the freeway. Gear selector in D, no power braking, just off the brake and all the way down on the accelerator. It seems to bog down intially on the very grippy surface then wheelspin as soon as it gets some speed going.
The 2nd run blew a vacuum hose and I had to limp the car back to the garage.

The final dyno tune is booked for Thursday. Hopefully peak power/redline will be high enough that I can reach 100km/h in 2nd gear.

B.J.

Tried various techniques....high stall ( power brake ) RPM ( 2500 + ) and it goes sideways.
My best results are in third gear and about 1200-1500 RPM power brake, tail will go a slight bit out but no loss of control.
Ran a 5.49 0-60 in 90 degree F ambient, and 5.13 in 40 degree ambient.
The turbos really like the cold air and dense charge !
I use third because when I get to a 1/4 mile, it should go through the traps ( 3.07 rear ) and be close to max RPM in third. ( 100-105 MPH ).
It does "chirp" on the one-two shift and pulls the tail out slightly on the shift.

Ed
