any news on the 6 speed? ive already converted my 103 12v 3.2 amg twin turbo to dog leg five speed, but six would be coooooool.

was wondering wether the two manual boxes (dog five and 6) are the same length?

I've been talking to a couple of clutch places about getting a custom flywheel made, but haven't been able to progress that yet. I am waiting on the purchase of a right hand drive clutch pedal assembly so I can hook up the hydraulics and take some measurements of the throwout bearing movement before I can choose my clutch and get the flywheel made.

Can you take some basic measurements of your dogleg gearbox and post up? I'll get some of the six speed and post up for all to share.

I'm also mucking around looking to adapt a BMW shifter to replace the complicated Benz unit. I need to get some more parts for this and get my lathe up and running to make some bushes!

Hey,
The 6 speed looks to have the gear shifter mounted onto the top of the transmission, unlike the 5-speeds drag link config.

How well does this alighn with your current setup?

Cheers,
Paul

Correct. The factory 6sp shifter is very different to the 5sp. I am transplanting into an auto car, so I can't compare. Some better pictures:

A couple of issues are obvious. The whole shifter mechanism is too long. Will put the shifter out of the tunnel at about the handbrake position. I also think it will be too tall. I think the mechanism is obvioulsy designed to minimise vibration and rocking being transferred to the shift lever. But a sa consequence, seems to introduce a very sloppy feel.

Thankfully, I've played with BM's in the past and the shift rod input to the gearbox housing looks very similar to that on the BM Getrag boxes. Sooooo, I'm going to try and adapt a BMW shifter mechanism like this:

Fingers crossed.....

Here are some pictures inside the bellhousing. The clutch slave and throwout mechanism is very different to the 5sp.
