good to see it fits nicely
the clutch slave cylinder is on the opposite side to the 5 speed model.

have you ever thought about the Borg Warner/Tremec T56 6 speed gearbox. Check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borg-Warner_T-56
this site has all the different ratios etc. this tranny is super tuff and is used behind 600hp factory vipers etc

Sweet. Now is the 716.620 the best 6 speed option? I know there are a couple others. If it is what specific model/year can i find it in? 03 c230?

why wont it work jayrash?
your car will be a bit different tho with the standard computer,
you would probebly need to trick the standard computer tho for some of the transmission signals.

i know, and fooling the ecu is the easy stuff, all my car has is an overload switch for shifting from first to second on full throt.

This is a very cool project. One day I'd like to have a 6sp in my E300. Something that occured to me that would be extremely helpful is a compatibility chart for transmissions and engines.

Just something listing all engines with the same bolt patterns and the compatible transmissions.

No further progress to report I'm afraid. I don't expect to have the car back on the road this year unless I suddenly find myself flush with funds. I'll be sure to post progress as it is made though.

The model number is 716.620. I don't know of a single part number though.

any news on the 6 speed? ive already converted my 103 12v 3.2 amg twin turbo to dog leg five speed, but six would be coooooool.

was wondering wether the two manual boxes (dog five and 6) are the same length?

I've been talking to a couple of clutch places about getting a custom flywheel made, but haven't been able to progress that yet. I am waiting on the purchase of a right hand drive clutch pedal assembly so I can hook up the hydraulics and take some measurements of the throwout bearing movement before I can choose my clutch and get the flywheel made.

Can you take some basic measurements of your dogleg gearbox and post up? I'll get some of the six speed and post up for all to share.

I'm also mucking around looking to adapt a BMW shifter to replace the complicated Benz unit. I need to get some more parts for this and get my lathe up and running to make some bushes!

i just used a standard 300 12v flywheel and machined it to fit a sachs rcs twin paddle clutch, cant measure gear box without taking it off car!
