Talking Cost of Brabus/Renntech Kit for 1999 C 230K

Hi,
Need more help...this time with money!
Any ideas about the cost of a Brabus kit or a Renntech kit for a 1999 C 230 Kompressor (has anyone gone in for any of them, and have had good/bad experiences?)
Please let me know which is better...I would love to try something out from Brabus or Renntech depending upon the response from this Forum.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Regards,
Sesh

The Brabus kit costs $3052 not including installation. RennTech actually has a number of kits:
(again not including installation)

A camshaft kit $2,795 gives you 200 HP.
Stage 1 tuning kit $2,350: Larger supercharger pulley, K&N air filter 205 HP.
Stage 2 tuning kit $7,390: Larger supercharger pulley, high-performance exhaust, larger intercooler and piping. Results in total output of 225 HP.
They have kits up to Stage 5, but I don't think you want to spend 19K on mods.

Price Change

Hi SV:
Thanks for the data. I got an email from RennTech that they're dropping the price of Stage 1 to $1475! The email was from someone named Bob. Do you think that's real? And, is RennTech better than Brabus? What about Wetterauer chiptuning and hardware? Any experience with them that you could share with me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!
Sesh

I have also gotten a reply from bob when I have had questions, so I don't think there is any reason not to believe the info that he gave you. RennTech and Brabus are both very respectable MB tuners that have ties to the factory (Brabus even more so). I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. I have heard of Wetterauer, but I don't know anything about them, so I can't help you there.

Local Guys, Global Knowledge!

Hello SV:
Thanks again for responding. My Company has an in-house TOTAL car-care shop - everything from carwash to major repairs can be done INSIDE the Company headquarters. There is this really experienced guy who's been doing a lot of BMWs, and he mentioned that even though he hasn't done any Mercs, he knows of some people who have, and in such a way that the warranty would not be voided (careful, careful, he said!). He mentioned that RennTech was very good, and that Brabus pulleys have been having some problems, not major ones, but problems nonetheless!
He (and a few other German car-specialists around Houston), have said they'd get back with me by Tuesday. I shall keep the people here posted, so in case someone's from Houston (or anywhere, for that matter), they could take advantage of what I gather. One common thing that I did notice was that most Merc specialists said it was not a big deal to install one of those kits, and they wouldn't charge me much - I'm guessing, around $3-400 for the installation.
Thanks again.
Regards,
Sesh

Since you're in Texas, you might also want to try http://www.oberklasse.com/ they're in Fort Worth. I don't know too much about this company, but drop them an E-mail and see if they have any kits for the C230 K.

Also, since your doing some mods to your car, you might want to look into sport springs and shocks, it will give it a much nicer stance and better handling. Maybe some H&R springs and Bilstein sport shocks.
