300E 3.4 AMG

i got it last week, needs some work, but im in love with it
I am not able to find much information and spec's on this car over the internet, if anyone have some let me know.

The hood and headlights have been changed by the previous owner, so now it is facelifted ( i will get it back to the old hood, front grill and headlights ).
It is a 1991 and got 260 000 Km, 5 speed automatic tranny.

here are some pictures:

I'd like to get the same plug wire cover as that m104 has for my '94 m104.

Oh well you'll need a new valve cover for that one.

I would kill for that engine.

I might kill for that engine. Not only was it rare, the 3.4AMG motor was fantastic. If you ever rebuild it, send TONS of detailed pics please.

That valve cover may not even fit on your 94, to the op that asked. They changed the bolt configs. You can get one off of a 93 300SE though

nice! I love the AMG ducktail, it makes our cars unique!

but as you mentioned already, it needs some work...
...for example the suction hose is missing etc.

i will start with getting it back to 100% performance. new injectors, spark plugs, EHA, distributor cleaning, air filter, fuel filters, tranny oil change, brakes...stuff like that
it will need time (since i travel a lot) and $ but it is worth it.
i already have 190 evo rims (picture attached) i will try and check which fits better....but i prefer a rim with AMG engraved on it

3.4 and 3.6 use same crank, from 350 d, but 3.6 has rebore to increce size, also 3.7 was avalible!

i think 3.4 would be stronger, due to thicker cylinder walls.

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

This is not correct.
The M104 E36 AMG with HFM from 1993>1997 used the 350SD crank (modified/Lightend)

The M104 3.4 AMG with KE from 1989>1992
Starting with the Win number in a W124 like this = WDB1240311B
Usen the W124 300D crank and not the 350SD crank.
The engine had also rebores to 91,5mm from the org. 88,5mm together with the 300D Diesel crank with the longer stroke of 84mm it gives the engine a volume of 3310cc. as they called 3.4

En Europe called (300E-24 - 3.4 AMG) has 272HK/6500 rpm. and 330Nm/4500 rpm.

This is mixed up by many around the forums becuase they canīt figure that the 300D crank gives 3.4 litter, but the truth is that the M104 3.4 AMG 1989 to 1992 was only a 3.310 litter engine but they called it 3.4

it was first with the M104 from 1993 and the HFM injections system that it came with the crank from the 350SD

The 3.6-24 brabus that I got with the M104.980 engine and KE system.
Has itīs own crank with 90mm stroke and a bore of 92mm giving it precise 3600 ccm.
But they cylinder wall are therefore very thin and thatīs why you should not use the brabus headgasket as it is 93mm in the bore and therefore you can use the headgaset from the 3.6 AMG witch is 92mm bore in the gasket and this headgasket keeps tight due to the thicker gasket between the walls.
I have done my own totaly rebiult of my brabus engine and has done a lot with the W124 3.4 AMG as well. so i know these engines very well.

excellent info, and well done for researching it to find out.

i quoted the 'accepted' specs, gained from reading posts over the last few years, just shows how wrong people can be.

do you know which crank they used in the 103 3.2 12v amg?

i was told diesel parts were used, but have never found out for sure.

could that engine (103 12v 3.2) be the 300 diesel crank with out a re-bore?

(does the difference between 91,5mm bore and 88,5mm bore = aprox 100cc?)

the 3.7 used an Oettinger Crank with 94,5mm stroke.
Holy ****. I wanna get such a Crank for my AMG

The Carlsson C37RS had a displacement of nearly 3.7L with that crank...
And it had the BMW M throttle valves... 334hp as na engine

The basis of 3.4 and 3.6 crank is the 350diesel crank,
but as I know the AMG crank was modified (lightened).

I wanna super- or turbocharge my 3.6 HFM AMG, too.
But I don' want to get into high boost levels.
I suppose ~5psi would be enough for a good punch and a long life.
