What kind of service do you guys get. I know for our ML, every service that we drop the car off (and for the recall job that needed to be done) we were/will always be given a loaner car. Usually its a used C220 or C230 (Sometimes we get used w124s, like a 300D 2.5 or a E320) and we get to use it as long as the car is in the shop. Did I mention it free as well. Our dealer is nice enough, that whenever the car gets dirty, we can drive by and drop of the car and they will clean it for us as well (which is why I don't wash it that much myself anyways.) We get Free Shuttling and food. Whenever we are waiting, we usually end up test driving a ar for the hell of it as well. Usually S500, CL500, or an E430 Sport. Always try something different.

As far as the work goes, they do a great job, but sometimes end up going through trial and error. My only real problem is in the summer with 90+F and high humidity weather and when the car overheated once. They oculdn't figure out what was wrong except that I had a pressure build up in my radiator. Replcaed, hoses, tanks, the works. Fianlly the added more pressure by forcing water through it, and out came a melted plastic washer.

I never really had problems ith my dealer, and they are even helpful enough to recieve my dads faxes when he is waiting there he needs something faxed to him. Our dealer really is great.

ET,

You are absolutely right. That front desk girl sure is something(not the look..DOH...I am too truthful again.. ). ET, I bought the car at the dealership and have it serviced there since new('til finally I got PO). Everytime I was there, no one even look at me?? I always setup appointments before hand, and I am ON time with my appointment, but still have to wait for another 1 1/2 hour for someone to finally confront with me and help me out?? It's not service, that's dis-respect. And all I can say is that you have E55, that makes the difference. In 15 years period, when a E55 is about 10 grand on the market, I don't believe you will get the same respect from them....IMO....though I have to admit that Jimmy is very helpful, and couple other service advisors are very friendly.

But again, think of it. When my car was shaking bad, and I took it the the North Van Mercedes, the service advisor went to do test drive with me right away(BTW, the guy's name is Grahm), point out the problems(which turned out to be bad Caps and plug connectors). He even lead me to their working area after they took off the caps, and show me how the caps affect the car. After new caps are in, Grahm wouldn't let me pay, WHY?? Because he wanted to do test drive with me AGAIN, just to make sure everything runs well before I left. Though I have to go back again the day after because of another bad connector, which is changed FREE(about 50 bucks included taxes and labour). And I never received this type of treatment at Broadway....I wonder WHY....

I am not say that Broadway Mercedes doesn't do a good job when doing services(though I have my car wheels balanced there, and 4/5 times there are NO weights on the rims...go figure). In fact they used to be the best. But I don't think they treat customers' cars as if of their own. And they don't give a damn about how customers feel. They just want to rush your car out of their lot and do the next car.

C.C. Cheng is very knowledgeable, and friendly. He always go through everything with me(BTW, did I mentioned that Ed never explained to me what they do on my car for routine services)before the car is put into the shop. And explain in detail after the car is ready to be handed back to me. That's what I call taking care of customers' cars, and because of it, I trust C.C. Cheng so much, I let him decided what to do. Whatever is needed to be taken care of, he can just go ahead without notify me. And still, he saved me alot more money than when I was with Broadway Mercedes.

DuckMuck,

When I have a problem with the car, and phoned in for service advisor to give some feedback, 3/5 of the time, I don't get a phone call back at all. And 2/5 of the time, they won't call me back 'til 2-5 days later!!! What I expect is that, when I phoned, and Mercedes told me to leave message and wait, I expect they to give me a call back in the same day. I ain't gonna sit there just to wait for them.....Again, I can't help it but compare this matter with North Van Mercedes, which I got a phone call back 15 min later after I phoned.

You ever heard of 3-day service on battery?? They need 3 days just to check if my old battery is ok, or need to be replaced(ya ya ya, when my car will just die when leave it sit for 2 days?? Of course it needs to be changed..)...

So, Broadway is the only one I am having trouble dealing with, and I am sure they ain't gonna touch my car ever again.

As for Burnaby Mercedes, they are new, but the lady at the front desk isn't that friendly at all('til the point when she knew I am a friend of C.C. Cheng).

Well, I think I post enough. Now here are couple stories from Mercedes.

1st is related to Broadway. The last service I ever have there is the battery thing. When I was picking up my car, and waiting for Ed to get back to me. I overheard 2 service advisor discussing what they should do about a 1992 500SEL as when they were just about ready to hand the car back in an hour, they wrecked the car, and the rear bumper felt off, and would need some body-work on the rear-right fender. Hm....what a service...

Secondly one just happened recently. When I have my oil changed done at Boundary Mercedes. One of the sale person was having trouble locking a ML-Class, so he went back in, hope to find the right remote, or at least a working one. When he came back out, the ML is gone, and everyone rushed to the back, and started looking for that car. But looked like it's STOLEN.....not sure if they found the car later that day as my car was about ready by that time......

I strongly advice everyone to give Richmond Mercedes(in Automall)a try.....

Hi guys,

Andy, guess u really had some bad experience with them. I don't think they will be shallow enough to judge a person base on the car but I do know a lot of people in our age do that though.

Maybe we should all go to Charlie's dealer because if Eric actually has his small talk with Susan I doubt I will be getting any service at all, haha. Maybe u can introduce me to CC Cheng sometime in the future!?

P.S. I do hope I have something else 15 yrs later though. Don't wanna be Al Bundy's Chinese counterpart, J/K.

Happy motoring,

ET

Andy, I cold-called CC Chung yesterday and tried to sweet talk him into letting me disable Daytime Running Lights without luck..

I hope we'll hook you up with Susan and she'll get the mechanics to do it for us..

Andy/Eric/ET,
Though I have not seen this person (Susan) I know ***EXACTLY*** what you mean by the super attractive females at some of these MB dealers/independents. As many as I've seen I'm beginning to think its a requirement for the position. Anyone in the ATL area should know what/who I mean at RBM....EG

Go get her Kuo!

Lee, you have made a very intelligent observation, and most of these MB receptionist are indeed very attractive! Should we have a little contest here? Whoever can post a pic of the best looking MB receptionist wins a MercedesShop T-shirt?

Andy, go Andy!

Just to add my $.02 to this long and misguided thread
I met someone at Pocono Raceway who has a C36 AMG with 3000 miles in his garage for sale...seems that his wife didn't like it, too small. He's about to order an E55. I asked him if he ever drove (or would be interested in)the 500E and he said he drove a 500 and it was much slower than the E55. I told him of my experience with Michael and his 500 (the one he drove must have been broken). I'd pick the AMG over the 500 because of potential parts availability problems in the future. It might not apply here, but try to get a water pump for a ZR-1-HA! Got to love the DOHC though, what the heck-get em both!
When I have the chance, I'm going to bring in the E55 to have the computer tweaked out. As it is, my wife can't drive it in sport mode, she's always in "W".
As for the "thinks she's a "10"" receptionists in high-end dealerships, been there, done that! What I lke to do is take 'em for a little ride. They'll always remember you after that, trust me on this
