what is the fastest that you have ever got a speeding ticket?

Just curious. How fast, what car, and how much $$$. This will be interesting. I have never had a speeding ticket. My parents have threatened to take my 300SD away from me if I get one becasue of the insurance raising. I got a warning last year in a '97 Buick Centruy (boring). I was doing 70 in a 55. I know, pathetic. But, remember my parents threat!
Thanks
David

117 in a 70 mph. The ticket was close to $300 but I attended a 4 hour driving school so it wouldn't go on my insurance. The Florida trooper was really cool about it since there was no other traffic around and I was in my Porsche. I'm sure his reaction would have been really bad had I been in an SUV, truck, or a car that was not made to drive at high speeds. He just asked that I "keep it down a little."

I'm a firm believer in the motto: "Speed does not kill.......variance does!" I don't speed in residential areas or congested areas because it is unsafe. However, with that said, speed limit laws are way too restrictive in many areas and we could drive at a higher rate and still be safe.

Wow.

You guys are lucky you don't live on our shi*tty little island. You'd very probably have both lost your licenses.

Not only that, you'd be caught by an automated fixed camera, issued with the ticket and be guilty until proven innocent.

...There's no way of proving you're innocent.

No officer to see that's it's an empty road, clear day, safe car etc, or if your car is loaded with illegal automatic weapons and missing children.

England sucks, I'm moving

117 in a 55. I was in a 5.0 'stang; The Law was in a Grand National. He reeled me in like I deployed a chute. Thankfully, paid the money to an attorney, and not the court (happened in the right town, and I won't say where).

Now, what's the best ticket anyone's ever talked their way out of? I just lucked out of a 100 in a 55, and I was dead to rights, flyin' back from The Glen. Cop was cool but wrote the Honda that was trying to keep up!

In 1992 My wife was stopped for 115 in a 65 in the then new 500E. She was taking a dog to the vet. She explained that this was the first time she had driven my car and didn't realize how fast it was. He had just read about the car in C&D and quoted the article to her " Like a Drug".

Officer let her go with a warning.

Michael,

Got lucky in CT?

I received a reckless for 98.5 in a 40mph (construction zone) on CT Rt. 15 on my way home from Boston. I got lucky with a $6nn fine and the right to drive home.

Fastest I've been pulled over was 128 in a 55 in NY state. I was let go. Empty hwy, he told me he just wanted to see if he could catch up.

Mark- Paced by AIRCRAFT??? LOL

110 in a 65 = 740 bucks.

in 94 my VW was out of commission and I needed to drive to the town where I was starting college, about 100 miles away. I asked my dad if I could borrow the 83 S-10. He said he needed it the next day and threw me the keys to the 944.

Now, I really wanted to borrow the S-10, cause it was already 10 pm and I knew that I would try to push it in the Porsche. No, he needed the truck tomorrow...

Anyway, about 20 miles from the town I noticed somebody coming up behind me awful fast. I started to slow cause I knew that this wasn't good. Flashing lights told me it was all over.

The trooper wrote the ticket for 110 in a 65 cause that's what he paced me at. He was coming the other way when he clocked me at (140 or 130...I forgot). He said it took 10 miles to catch up to me. If only I had a radar detector.

I got thrown in the clink, bail was $740 dollars. Final cost was 700 bucks for the ticket, 40 bucks for court costs.

That was the last speeding ticket I ever got.

125 mph in a 250 GT/E Ferrari. A CHP followed me for 10 miles before he was able to catch me. he admired the car and wrote me for 80. My lucky day!

Talked my way out of a 95 in a 55 due to the fact I was driving an inebrieated friend home from a social gathering.....

Been a couple where if they *had* caught me.....ugh By the time they caught back up from the other direction I was parked someplace secluded, on another road, or in another jurisdiction altogether.

Mark....ouch! though the aircraft pacing reminds me of the Gumball video....hehe

Got pulled in Rockdale Co. Georgia in '82 driving a '76 BMW 530i about 3am on I-20... Deputy Dawg said he clocked me at 115 uphill and 120 down and this was back in the days of 55. He was in an OLD Ltd with a 460 P.I. and no radar, took him about 8 miles to run me down so he was really moving. I think he was enjoying himself on a boring night! He was nice about it, kept calling the 530i an 'Audi' to give me crap, let a buddy follow in my car, hauled me to jail whereupon EVERY cop in the station ran out to attend a barfight with machinegun fire (I heard the call). I asked the secretary what was to become of me, looking on the board I saw the cell #s and the charges... murder, assult, etc, so I didn't want to be locked up! She looked at the ticket, said "Well, honey, 70 in a 55 is $60-70 (can't remember) and if ya got cash, you can go!" Whew... thank you Deputy, where ever you are!
