Exclamation SL500 1995 - How do I replace the R/L Mirror switch in Center Console?

The switch seems to be under the wood console that extends up from the window switches to above the radio. Is there a simple way to remove this to get access to the mirror switch for replacement? Any help or a point in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

Switch

On my 380SL, you remove the ashtray and there are 2 screws holding the ashtray frame. Once the frame is removed, there are only 2 more screws that hold the wood console in place. Be careful. At the front (part closest to the trunk) of the wood, where it curves down, is a pin (pointing to the engine) that keeps the front of the wood console in place. It will break easily if you try to "lift" the console. One you remove those 2 screws, you SLIDE the console slightly toward the trunk and then gently lift. THAT pin breaks easily.

Not sure if the same on your SL but perhaps some of info is helpful.

Nope, it's not like that on the 129. I had my center console all apart to work on the shifter switch for overdrive.

Damn if I can rememeber what I did to get it apart, but I know I found it in this forum doing a search. There was a link to a German or Russian site that had a video of how to do it.
