We are sorry that we elected him governor, thus setting the stage for a 35 year embarrassment for our fair state. He was elected under the premise that his opponent associated with Negroes and it went downhill from there. I worked for the state of Georgia in the '70's. I remember quite well being at work when an announcement came over the radio stating that Jimmy Carter had announced that he was going to run for President. The entire office erupted in laughter.
But Jimmy had the last laugh. The joke was on us.
