For the original question, which you didn't answer, but instead started sharpshooting me. Why?

And yes I do see the hamster analogy. Funny you should say that.

Now go look where that thought originated on this thread.

I believe you were not serious when you asked about the "rules".

Clearly, there are no rules.

So, I responded in kind..........not serious...........in the noble tradition of the master (see sig).

I have no idea, but we evidently can't trust our own government....

Well I guess I started this dance, so I apologize as well.

Upon a couple of days of reflection it occurs to me that at least parts of this thread are about denial.

Our idea of culture is between the proverbial rock and frying pan. If nothing is done to curtail consumption, we are headed for big problems. If nuke based energy spreads we are headed for big problems. We are doing everything we can to advance the idea of consumerism, which itself is headed for big problems. Is there an alternative?

I hope people never trust their government. Government's sole function is restriction of freedom. We are glad to give-up dangerous, chaotic behavior for order and security so we band together and form a government to impose order. It is in our nature to want things to improve so we have a continual push by one group or another to impose their utopian agenda on the rest of us. That is human nature.

Like Reagan said of a different gov, "Trust, but verify."
