Couldn't ask for a better day! I've taken the wife's Mitubishi and had it washed, the 560sl and MK VII are next!

Ah, it is Friday already, isn't it?

Supposed to interview a handful of candidates for a commodity management position today, plus launch an RFQ towards a supplier that I KNOW will fail to meet the requirements...... but gotta go ahead anyway so that the other supplier at least thinks this is a competitive bid situation.

Ed got booted from the hospital yesterday ('series of mini-strokes' and 'mild weakening of the heart muscle' were the layman's version of the diagnoses). Still can't use his left hand at all, and he starts sounding thick tongued as he gets tired.

He goes in next week for cardio tests, and he got a slew of prescriptions that Darling Wife is in the process of figuring out how to get covered by one or more programs (Ed has no insurance, and we can't float his new $800 per month drug habit for very long at all). Then it's more doc visits and trying to convince Ed to accept a disability declaration from any one of the three docs that have said it is applicable.

Found out yesterday that the water turning electric blue and the lightening flash issues Ma was having last two weeks were not tumor or steroid related as everyone believed - turns out her retina is 'fully detached.' So she goes in this afternoon for that surgery - and she's terrified.

Did convince Ed to stick around at our place long enough last night for me to q' up some chicken for him and Ma. Darling Wife pulled a delightful assortment of tomatoes from her garden (orange, yellow, red, sweet, tangy, etc - amazing variety!) along with some basil. Sliced up some mozzarella, grilled some corn, and stuffed ourselves silly. Oh - and Darling Wife somehow managed to squeeze in some brownie makin' cuz Ma's got a sweet tooth with a hollow leg and hasn't been getting her usual junk food fixes since she's staying with us.

Borrowing a chain saw from a co-worker today to bring down 4 trees that are leaning against the north side of the house. Once those are out of the way, the rest of the weekend (parental crises allowing) will be spent prepping and painting. If things go ridiculously smooth with all that, I'll be starting on the three barn doors that need building......

Wow, that is impressive. You'll have to keep us updated on the progress. That sounds like it'll be very nice when it's done.

Probably in about 10 days it will start to look like something is going to happen. After 4 weeks this is all that has been done.

I thought you lived in the New England area.....? We've barely had any tomatoes this year on account of the insane amount of rain that we've had.

Frederick, MD. Lots of rain, and tomatoes did get hit with some blight - but Darling Wife jumped on it and saved all the plants. Pumpkins, on the other hand - we're not sure if those are going to survive. Got hit with some sort of boring worm, then ah, erm - some sort of powdery mildew. Worms she plucked out by hand, and the powdery mildew we've been treating with some sort of hippie friendly solution. Fingers crossed - some of the pumpkins are already kickball sized!

Getting the word out for a parade tomorrow...Holmen KornFest...a celebration of all things from the stalks, with lots and lots of sweet corn, sweet creamy butter and salt...hot off the grill and yummy!!!

Just being down-wind of that is enough to clog the tubes...

Then Sunday, the Holmen KornFest Car Show...highlighting all vehicles manufactured in '59. Some really heavy metal...

Anyways, I'll be out and about, checking to be sure the checks cleared the bank...

On a side note...last night/this morning, some freaky storm, just to the north of us, put about 6 or 7 counties in about 4-7 inches of rain...thing looked like a hurricane on radar and it moved about as fast...only 10mph or so during the process...about 0300, I quit watching the radar and finally hit the pillow...

I'll have to drive up to Colfax this afternoon and check out the tower to be sure everything is where it's suppose to be and there's no "erosion issues" that have to be addressed...

Other than that, mom was laid to rest on Monday, on time (Military efficiency is something to be marveled at.), showed up, sat down, a few "...domini, domini, feely all my boneys..." - a tune or two, slapped the good book shut, shook a few hands and then it was off to a "wake" 'til the emtombment was completed, then came back and took a few pics to present to those that didn't show up...

And all the "Payton Place" shenanigans that the X was worried about happening, did happen...nice to see that she wasn't disappointed...not! Long story short, her brother's 2nd wife is a bit narcissistic...and I had to be not only the witness, but I got to listen to everything I saw...not once or twice...but enough times that I'm able to tell the story in my sleep...and I'm still hearing about it.

How do psychologists put up with this stuff?

Anyways...if you folks up in the Twin Cities want to cruise the Mississippi for about 6 hours or so...head on down to Holmen and give the Car Show an eye-over...use Hwy 61 coming on down...the view is just something else...

Have a weekend, folks!

Awe, schucks. Just doing what needs to get done, boss.

Been needling Darling Wife to just accept compliments when I give 'em to her (she tries to explain how what she's done is no big deal), so I suppose I should follow my own advice.... thanks Dee8go.

There is NO way I could maintain this pace for this long without having the amazing partner I have. The way we balance each other out is a joy - if I'm gettin' spun up over something starting to feel overwhelming, she's there with a gentle touch and a reminder to breathe. An hour/day/week later we reverse roles - no conscious effort, it just is. 4 years together, and we've never argued - again, not because we decided not to, we just never have.

Makes it easy to go like mad all day knowing that whatever gets done will get done, and whatever doesn't will be gotten to when it can.

Your a lucky man. Even those that are out of the age range are envious of the Darling wife in one way or another

Another hot weekend here.

Happy because we picked the G up from the bodyshop, and it looks perfect.
