Thought I'd get a head start on Friday this week. I have nothing planned for this weekend. I'm just hoping there won't be any snow . . .
|
Packer game...so I'm plugged into a transmitter site...to be sure that Western Wisconsin doesn't plunge into chaos if the screen should go "black" (or the "blue screen of death"). Someone has to have their finger on the "button" to be sure the free world continues on into the future.
Either that, or the studio ceases to exist due to the fact that rabid (drunk) Packer fans have torched the studio site 'cause one of the two transmitter sites was down due to outside forces. And...it's suppose to be *****in' cold this weekend...like about -18° F.. Count on the "Flying Fickled Finger of Fate" having nothing to do with writing its name in the snowbanks east of the Mississippi this weekend... :o :D Stay warm folks... |
I might wash the car tomorrow.
|
Guatemala City, Guatemala tomorrow for lunch. 6 hours of work, then Sunday off and fly home. I was going to visit the Myan artifacts but someone said they were ruined.
|
Third day off from school in two weeks. My wife is standing on the ledge. I'll be bringing a bottle of wine home after work for her and my sanity.
My daughter is having a sleepover tonight, which is still on. The problem being that my oldest son was supposed to have a dance tonight, which has been canceled since school was closed. It's more or the annoyance factor than anything else. Son #1 has his SAT trial run tomorrow and then it's a couple games each for the rest of the weekend. Off to finish cleaning up my plow accounts now. |

Big storm forecast for Tue-Wed next week. Dare I say another closure? |
So...snow, blowing snow, cold blowing snow, oh gawd...more cold and snow. WELL, yesterday's -6° F. beats the -49° I dealt with back in '96. It didn't matter even thinking about snow that morning...it was too FU**ING COLD to even snow...all the moisture was sucked out of the air.
But that was then, today is today. I'll be yanking the utility trailer out of the snowbank and transferring some (3) #230 Nitrogen tanks that are "tapped" for as many full ones and getting them back out to the transmitter site...then I'll be back up there (Colfax) for the SB Sunday morning...starting out about 0900 and running through the day 'til about 2330 or 2400. I'm "salaried" so I'm stucked. It sux... No alcohol or wimin...just the constant "whirrrrrr" of the 5hp/3-phase/480 Volt pump motor and about 200 little muffin fans that keep all things silicon at a constant temperature of just under "too hot." Oh...and the "stand-by" transmitter will be warmed up and "whirring away" in the other room...just in case... You folks stay warm and shovel-free as much as possible. GO PACK GO!! I'll read about it on Monday...God knows I won't be able to hear it! |
I'm so happy to live outside of this recent winter storm zone! The snow is slowly melting here. The sun is shining. Life is good.
Have a happy weekend, everybody. |
It's supposed to be around 80F today. :D
|
Cold and rainy here in South Cakalackey. I'm gonna rebuild the carburetors on my motorcycle and check the rear brakes on my 300CD. Gotta run the dogs on the beach, they're getting on my wife's nerves bouncing around the house.....they need a good run and swim.
Then this old pissed off Ravens fan and season ticket holder is going to watch the Packers beat the crap out of the Squealers. |
As this past week has transpired, I'm thankful for 18" steel I-beam roof supports rather than the zig-zag, stamped steel and laminated wood trusses that have been failing so regularly around here. There are a handful of new roof collapses with each newscast. The usually-annoyingly placed I-beam posts scattered throughout the building are far less annoying, too.
