Parts have been stacking up on me this week. New tires and wheels from TireRack. New injectors, seats, and seals. Clear corners. And another locking gas cap. Sold mine to a neighbor who's central locking system on her 300SD stopped working. With the price of gas out here in Calif. I thought it would bring her a little piece of mind.

Next weekend I'm off to the junk yard to search for a kickdown switch and possibly solenoid. Not sure which one I need. Also another combination switch. The used one I found a while back has a failed wiper delay feature.

I did some car shopping yesterday and found a 123 diesel wagon a mere 3 minutes away (Cali car). Appears to be in good shape, but have a few things to check on.

Decided to keep my 220 and if there's a sale, I'll use the oil burner as daily driver/shop car/dog hauler. Guess I'll have to become a member of ""Oil Burner Kartel-Das Dieselreich" !!! :pleased:

My wife and I took the twins to a Buddhist temple in Orange County for the Bon Odoori festival, a Japanese festival that is held every year to honor one's ancestors.

We dressed them up in Japanese costume, Yukata, ate great Japanese food, and did our best dancing the traditional dances.

We arrived home after 9:00 p.m. completely exhausted.

An excerpt from Wikipedia:

O-bon (お盆) or only Bon (盆) is a Japanese Buddhist holiday to honor the departed spirits of one's ancestors. This Buddhist festival has evolved into a family reunion holiday during which people from the big cities return to their home towns and visit and clean their ancestors' graves. Traditionally including a dance festival, it has existed in Japan for more than 500 years. It is held from July 13 (August 13 according to the lunar calendar still observed in many regions) to July 15 ("Welcoming Obon" and "Farewell Obon" respectively) in the eastern part of Japan (Kantō), and in August in the western part. In recent years, however, most parts of Tokyo, and by extension, the media, hold Obon in August to coincide with the summer holiday period. Obon shares some similarities with the predominantly Mexican observance of el Día de los Muertos, such as customs involving family reunion and care of ancestors' grave sites.
Obon is a shortened form of the legendary Urabonne/Urabanna (Japanese: 于蘭盆会 or 盂蘭盆会, urabon'e). It is Sanskrit for "hanging upside down in hell and suffering" (Sanskrit:Ullambana). The Japanese believe they should ameliorate the suffering of the "Urabanna".
Bon Odori originates from the story of Mokuren, a disciple of Shakyamuni, who saw a vision of his deceased mother in the Realm of Hungry Ghosts where she was indulging in her own selfishness. Greatly disturbed, he went to the Buddha and asked how he could release his mother from this realm. Buddha answered, "On July 15, provide a big feast for the past seven generations of dead." The disciple did this and, thus, saw his mother's release. He also began to see the true nature of her past unselfishness and the many sacrifices that she had made for him. The disciple, happy because of his mother's release and grateful for his mother's kindness, danced with joy. From this dance of joy comes Bon Odori or "Bon Dance", a time in which ancestors and their sacrifices are remembered and appreciated. See also: Ullambana Sutra.
Toro Nagashi is the floating of paper lanterns on the last evening of Obon, to guide the spirits in their journey.

Paul, Isn't a blast being married to someone from a different culture? The Asian mind flips around western thought. Mind blowing.

Anyhow, gotta love all those numbers:

The Three Marks of Existence.

The Four Noble Truths.

The Eightfold Path.

The Five Skandhas.

The Six Realms.

..phew.

Wow, the week went fast. Possibly work in the AM on Saturday. Yet another old car show this weekend, though not sure if I'll attend.

Hope to pick up that 123 diesel wagon as well. The seller was going to replace the broken antenna. Actuates, but mast was busted. He also going to check into the run-on issue too.

I hope to pick up my autocrossing 280e tomorrow and run it in a xcross on sunday. I had the diff welded for a full time full locker positraction.

My lovely #1 daughter and her kids and hubby are coming in tomorrow too so I will likely get a good dose of grandparenting this weekend too.

Another soccer tournament this weekend (duh)...canceled trip to mother-in-law's house...actually, I sent wife home on a plane and stayed behind to take my daughter to the games...

...wife needed to be away for a few days...she just dented the front fender on the 07 ML! Best that she not be around until I cool off! :freak:
