I did good. This is arguably the most difficult ski marathon in the lower 48. It uses the Olympic training courses at Giants Ridge MN. Temps were -5F at the start of the race and warmed to 10F. The actual course turned out to be 52k but what's a coupla k's here and there. First 26k were OK, I was fighting a lot of traffic. Second 26k I skied alone because there were a lot of DNF's and most opted to do the short course. Finished in 3:48 and change.

Friendly soccer tournament this weekend. But I did finish painting my brake calipers on the ML...gonna button it all back up tonight!

On the "running" tangent...my 7th grade daughter finished her first cross country meet 2nd overall with a time of 6:26:00. She plans to improve that greatly, since the top runners in the region are under the 6:00:00 mark!

Visited the beautiful Midland/Odessa, Texas area. Was glad to get back to Northern Virginia!

I hate America- they thought they were going to strand me at Miami International on Christmas Eve, due to weather in DC we were late taking off and when we landed they said the connecting flight had left when in fact it was still sitting on the tarmack and god forbid they try and push it in the air to make up the time. I got three of my weary fellow travelers together, rented a car and off we went to Fort Myers driving along Alligator Alley at 1:00 a.m. singing holiday songs. American got a poison pen letter from me and I got my money back. This never would have happened when my dad was flying way back when...

They offered me a ride to a city three hours away to leave at 10pm last night on another airline, but I didn't have a ride to the destination which was 1+ from the airport, ect.....they offered me a ticket anywhere in the US which is fine.

Flew in from a short trip to Dallas late last night. It started sleeting and then snowing about 4:00 p.m. Thursday night, and the airport acts like it's never seen snow. Takes them 2 hours to de-ice the plane. At least I was comfortable ensconsed in first class throwing back three (3) Beefeaters and tonic.

When we finally touched down in Denver, I had missed my connecting flight. Every flight was backed up, full, and wait-listed. However, I pulled rank and bumped someone off the last flight from Denver to LAX.

Knowing that my wife was going to pick me up, I decided to finish off the evening and ordered a double Scotch (Dewer's) on the rocks.

Woke up late this morning with a splitting headeach, decided I wasn't going to work, and drove into Pasadena to The Container Store and ordered some more shelving for the right-hand side garage wall.

Will install it tomorrow and then get a haircut.

Not bad.

The pig activity has died off (pun intended)...my neighbor to the north waged war on the oinkers after they totally destroyed some spring planting he did. Over the course of 2-3 weekends, and using a timed feeder, he shot four adult sows, an old boar and several squeakers. Since then, I've only seen signs of a few small pigs in my creek bottoms and none have been in our trap either.
$210 isn't really bad for that tire. The steer tires on my Freightliner cost me $450.00 each. If one goes bad you always have to buy two for even wear reasons. The drive tire cost in the neightborhood of $325 each, and trailer tires always cost atleast atleast $260 each. Imagine drives or trailer and having to do all of them. There are 8 drives, and 8 trailer tires. Those all can be changed individually, but steers are a must for changing them both at the same time. Cheere up buddy.
