Good idea but they use a gas engine in hybrids because of the quick start. You can't do that with a diesel,,, I think?

I think that the new diesels would have fit the bill just fine.

I guess the Prius is like a diesel-electro locomotive, right?

If you actualy read some of the threads you will find them wondering why only people with new Prius's are hanging around. Well lets see the car has all the personality of a dish washer, so once the oh neat its new thing wears off its just another Toyota that no one cares about.

BMW introduced their Hydrogen/Gas car. I bet this thing runs like a champ. We'll see how they get lobbied ....

Cool

I don't think that Prius owners want to hear about hydrogen, veggie powered diesels, biodiesel, or anything but how good their hybrids are and how right their buying decision was.
I believe in not trashing our environment, and at the same time wonder where the heavy metals from all those dead hybrid battery packs are going to end up.
If petroleum becomes expensive enough, the free market will provide us with cost effective solutions

Yeah, I heard a story about blind people not liking the Prius on NPR today. I imagine a dog would hear it but if he'd been conditioned to moving for a vroom-vroom! car he/she might not be up on the Prius. I was standing next to one on a quiet culdesac street and as it pulled away slowly from the curb, I could barely hear a thing. I mean at speed, you'd have the tire whine but not at 2 mph.

Yup. The old ways is the best ways.
