We are heading over to Springfield Ill tomorrow for a long weekend of Lincoln Sites exploration.

Any recommendations?

We are taking the trailer and camping, anybody recommend a place for camping with a big trailer?

I grew up in Springfield, and most Lincoln sights are a few blocks any direction from downtown. But typical for "townies", we rarely visit any of them except when out-of-towners visit and wish to tour the city.

Some decent camping areas south of the city near Lake Springfield, but since I'm not a camper, I can't tell you much about locale and amenities.

My parents still live in Springfield, but unfortunately, I only can manage a trip up there every two or three years. Things tend to change a lot over time.

Yaaah! Halloween Hump Day

:) Today is the high holy day for all children and children-at-heart: Halloween.

I'm going trick-or-treating tonight in full Halloween regalia! I fall into that second category of "children-at-heart."

I almost have finished putting my new office together. I built a desk (odd-sized room) that fits better than OJ's glove, and have aquired all the requisite office accoutrements. I'l find the "Pictures of your office" thread when I'm done and post a picture or two.

I hope all of you have a happy Halloween hump day.:grim:

I'm looking forward to bringing my kids around in the early evening and then handing out candy after that. I also take a random sampling from all of my kids bags as a safety check as well as quality control. It's for their own good.

I have to remember to hit the package store on the way home to buy some beer. My father goes around the neighborhood to all of the friends' and family's houses "Trick or Drink"-ing and if I don't have some beer for him I'm not sure what'll happen. And he has entirely too much time on his hands to plan shennanigans!

Swamp- Trick or Drink that sounds like fun! Tonight I'm going out with the neighbors and their kids Trick or Treating- we have the best neighborhood the work people put into decorating their houses is incredible.

Taking Alia(?) The Little Mermaid and a mini-Cinderella out for trick or treating. I have one of those rubber-tired garden carts to haul the liqu, I mean girls and their candy in after they get tired:D

Trick or Drink--boy that brings some controversy back to the forefront of my mind. My fraternity did "Trick or Drink" every year at various famous houses on a famous street in a famous Southern city. Our benefactors would open their opulent homes and have a punch bowl of martinis, manhattans, ect....and we would each have like two drinks and move on. Charge was $35/couple or something and we used it as a fundraiser for MDA, as the liquor and houses were donated. All was well for ten running years, until a complete dumbass (who prepped at St. Mary's in Boston before the Southern Redneck image comes to mind) shows up on the doorstep of one of the houses dressed in a klan outfit, dragging a pledge in 'blackface' by a chain ala Roots. Before we could jump on the guy and do him physical harm, the local (second largest in the state) newspaper got themselves a closeup of the picture. We were on probation with the the national fraternity for almost two years and with the school for a whole year. Had to have all our parties off campus and donate $5K to the Black History museum on campus.

and that was when you decided to go to law school...your frat was the one modeled after Animal House wasn't it?

Wonder how Dee8go's new business venture is coming along?

Dee8go 10-31-2007 12:21 PM

Slowly right now until I get acclimated. I think it's going to be very good, though.

Its Halloween and I ahve to work.. But I get to dress up.. woooo

eagle-co94 10-31-2007 12:31 PM

No trick-or-treaters in my neighborhood, so I'll be wrapping up the SS.

Tonite's agenda: Install front bumper support and bumper skin, lube front end (new BJ's & tie-rods), bleed brakes, mount front wheels, install intake, install grille and adjust idle. Put on new license plate and take for a spin for 1st time in over 16 months!
