Last Friday, taking the MB to the site in Colfax, it starts "sleeting/snowing" ... OH! OH! HELP ME JESUS!

The "First-5hit-On-The-Roads-Driving-Day" is about to begin...

Sure enough, not ONLY are the morons out in full-force, pedel-to-the-metal, Hell-be-damned, I'm-not-slowing-down-for-a-few-little-white-flakes, but they're driving BIG VEHICLES. And with their attitudes and bravado, there ain't no slowing these brain-surgeons down....

NO WAY JOE!

As I'm driving along, I'm approaching an open stretch of roadway, with a gentle bend of a curve in it...usually a 55mph curve, at best. I'm on the "outside" part of the curve, and coming at me is an 8,000 GALLON F*CKING MILK TRUCK (mental imagery is kicking in REALLY HARD AND FAST RIGHT NOW...). I managed to get off to the side of the road and on the shoulder just as THAT 8,000 gallon FU*KING MILK TRUCK SLIDES OVER TO MY SIDE OF THE ROAD ON THAT CURVE...

DID I MENTION THAT IT WAS A F*CKING 8,000 GALLON MILK TRUCK?!?!

Yes, BVDs were purchased at the next stop.

I want to start carrying my 12-gauge around now...just to be able to fire a few warning shots into their sidewalls...just to slow them b@stards down, just a little!

Just as a side-bar to this incident...just this past weekend, MNDOT opened an intersection, that had been under construction this past spring/summer, and with all the new lights and asphalt...guess what?

A MILK-TRUCK t-boned a PT Crusier, at the new intersection. Guess who won? Luckily for the driver (lady) of the PTC, she was slammed on the passenger side, which became the running board for the driver's right side.

As for the MT, who knows...the pics on the news showed a wrinkled push-plate for a bumper...I'm sure there might be a slight frame-disturbance in the universe, but it certainly looked drivable.

I wonder what becomes of the product they're carrying when the vehicle transporting said-product, becomes involved in an accident? Too much time between pick-up and delivery and the stuff is then spoiled and thrown out? Used as fertilizer on farm fields?

Just curious...

Anyways, have a better day...remember, drive carefully out there...no one else does!
:D

Don't know...maybe it has something to do with time between first pick-up to delivery of the load?

It just seems that those things are driven by homicidal-20-somethings that feel a bit too superior for what they're really doing.

Maybe, they're just trying to get away from the smell of fresh cow-dung that's clinging onto their boots...

I don't know and I still drive with my eyes peeled out for 'em...they're too big and stupid for me to win a war of metal with 'em...

Until the locals start cracking down on 'em, they have more metal than I can match...they win before the argument even gets started.

In a word, squat.

Very happy to see that you made it through that ordeal with little more than a need for new skivvies, mg!

Everybody have a grand and wonderful day today . . . .

Hey, that club I keep threatening to take you and yours to is at 2121 Massachusettes Ave., NW. I don't know which embassy you are going to, but it is close to most of them as a point of reference for our future gtg.

You have a good day too!

We went to the French embassy and it was terrific! It's in Georgetown, though, not on "Embassy Row." I had a great, albeit hectic, day. Thanks. Hope you did, too.

Today is "Happy Half Hump Day" for me. I'll be leaving soon for regions south of here, so I hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving and much for which to be thankful. I know I do.

Same to you, Dee, and everyone else. Hope you have safe travels!

I've got the "Honey Do" punch list before tommorrow when everyone arrives. A few last minute items at the supermarket, also.

The cheap ba$tards ;) gave us Fri. and Sat. off so I'll be stuck at home with the kids for 4 days . Maybe I'll finally take my boat out of the water. It's getting a bit chilly and the guy with the pontoon boat looks like he's leaving it in for the duration so I guess my quest for last one in the water is over.

Today I woke up on THIS side of the grass! I've got great kids, a good job, a nice place to live, and my health, not to mention truly wonderful people in my life. It's a GREAT day!

I hope everyone else here has a good one, too.

Anything to do with the other thread you started? That would ruin my whole holiday for that matter! I can sympathize... :(

Dee8go 11-28-2007 10:21 AM

Sorry you're having a bad day, Swamp. I hope it will improve as the day goes along.
