Vista SUCKS! (SLOW PERFORMANCE and resizing pics to Email or post specifically)

I am totally stressed trying to fix this friggin thing (speed wise). I know it's my fault but if I want to use Hotmail as my Email, It's my prerogative! With Vista, if you resize a pic, you must then attach it to an Email. Big time saver, you say. However, Microsuck does not want us to use Hotmail, so it opens their Email for you! Joy! And there is no way to get it (the pic) to the Hotmail; if there is I apologize.

Also, my 3 month old computer is slow as my win98 machine, in spite of all updates and auto-tuneup/antivirus/antiphishing/high security crap. Spent 5 hours trying to fix the performance issue, making restore points/ changes and other improvements recommended by HP customer service including disabling menu transparency and other things that a dual core 2GB "entertainment" laptop should be able to do while I'm watching a recorded HDTV show. Mind you, I don't "game", gamble, look at porn or do anything that taxes the system.

My advice if you are considering Vista: get the extended warranty, then you can microwave your computer 2 seconds and get a new one. As a last resort, of course (seriously).

Thanks for listening and for any help. Hope this saves someone from VISTA. Get a Mac.

My Vista computer has been flawless. But I don't know much about computers so I wouldn't know if it wasn't doing what it was supposed to. But I know Gmail works, the internet works, and I can watch TV and play games on it.

Although I mostly use my computer for typing papers and looking at porn.

They had so many patches for Vista they finally recalled it. I am sorry for your pain....can you go back and install XP Pro?

I read an investment article the other day in which the writer suggested that Microsoft quietly kill off Vista and try again. There seem to be a lot of folks who have that opinion. I've never used Vista, and yet I'm against it.

Need I say more?

Been good with it here - much better dealing with WiFi than XP.

I recently bought a Dell laptop - mainly because I could get it with XP and a docking station. It handles the three network connections (one wired in the docking station, one in the laptop, and one wireless) reasonably well. Vista only gets interesting if you buy the more expensive versions - only then do you get the eye candy. The regular versions are just like XP - only with DRM and more bugs.

what are the specs on your computer, I run vista on my laptop and let me tell you i can run heavy load projects in photoshop with ease. i see no difference in performance than my Mac Pro until i get to file sizes over 1 gig.

Although you do not do alot on the computer internet wise that still doesn't mean you could have spyware. try this spyware remover.

Adaware It is made by a company called Lavasoft. Go to there website and download the free version, run the scan and see what it finds you might be surprised.

I don't get it. If you want to change the resolution of a picture, use a tool for that (like ImageMagick or any one of a number of image editing programs). Then just add it as an attachment.

My wife's computer (Vista 64) runs programs under 98SE in a virtual machine much faster than it ran on her old P4 with XP. Go figure.

My advice? If you run Vista, get reasonable hardware. I don't know what you have, but the only issue I had with Vista, when I assembled my wife's computer, is that it does not wake up properly every couple of weeks. Her old camera did not have the proper driver (I did it for her on another computer). That's it. Then again, I built her a 3GHz quad core system with 4GB memory and a decent graphics card.

Otherwise, it has been completely pain free. All the updates installed easily, the computer is plenty fast, the adjustment required between chair and monitor has been minimal, and it is possible to use it with a non-superuser account with the UAC.

It is actually the first version of Windows I like since W2K. But what do I know -- I run FreeBSD on most of my boxes.

My company gave me a new laptop in January with Vista Business on it. I had such a nightmare with blue screen of death and since I was one of the first, no one believed me. My IT Department actually wrote an email to my boss and said I broke the laptop and I should be reprimanded!!!! Until, of course when all the new laptops started having problems. I wrote to her boss and requested she should be fired. She did not thoroughly tested the systems and therefore all of us did not have the proper tool to do our job.

I since got another new one last month. It comes with 4G of RAM. Had the SP1 installed but had to deinstall it because MS bulletin said it wrecks all VPN configurations, which was the case to me.

Vista is the most worthless OS ever put in the market. Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can do a thing about it. Monopoly sucks.

I do not have Vista at home, but it seems that everytime I use someone else's Vista machine, it reminds me of a nagging wife, looking over my shoulder the entire time, asking things like "Are you sure....?" or "Do you really want to ....? I keep finding myself telling the thing to shut up.

Some were from newegg, others were from other places that had better deals.

The basic hardware, with a Q6600, an Intel P35 motherboard with good BIOS temperature control, 2x2GB memory, mirrored 500GB drives, a DVD-RW, and DVD-R, a decent video card (an nVidia 9600GT), the case and PS, Vista 64, Office, the VM and various other software, and parts to make it silent (various heatsinks and fans) were about $1400. I overclocked it modestly to 3GHz (it was stable to about 3.5 at reasonable voltages, but I wanted the silence and she did not need the added speed). She bought a decent 24" monitor for another $450.

She uses it to run her business, so this is peanuts for her. She likes it a lot, and that is the best recommendation.

You can't hear the computer from a foot away, which is rather nice for the power it packs.
