I have never heard a person from India referred to as "Asian," have you?

India is full of Indians! Even though technically they are in Asia, I have never nore heard anyone refer to them that way.

About half of the people I work with in our IT department are Indian contractors from India. They are nice enough people, but their command of the English language leaves alot to be desired most of the time. You have to listen to them very carefully to be able to understand them if at all.

When I get home, I say to my wife, because I hear it ALL DAY- "Think yew viddy much!"! "Think yew viddy much"! "You are so veddy welcome!"

My accounting professor was this little Indian dude, he spoke good enough English but he spoke so quite you had to really listen. Tough teacher, but one of the better ones I have had.


He actualy sued the school and wasn't getting paid. He was teaching because he liked it, he owns or is partners in about 4 very profitable business. Has more money than he can spend... He is the only business professor I have had that actualy made a lot of money doing what he taught. He always wore perfectly tailored suits.

In the 50th state, asian or oriental won't cut it, it's too generic. Here, you have to know the finer points of world geography and history. Telling an Okinawan that they're Japanese is like calling an Austrian a German.

The same goes for Pacific Islanders . . . don't confuse Samoans with Fijiians or Microneasians, if you know what's good for you.

Just because you haven't heard doesn't mean they are not Asian. You can't change the Geography with perception. It remians a fact.

India is a sub continent in itself.........the IT workers mostly come from south and they carry their own accent. Most North Indians have trouble understanding them as well so you aren't alone.

I am a caucasian and therefore, of Asian ancestry.

All one needs to see is the family tree of English language and they will know where Caucasians went starting with India and spreading out far west. Orient excluded.
