Good Sport! Probably the most difficult thing to shake.

I smoked from 14 to 34....Xanax and whiskey got me thru the jitters.

Pretty touch and go for a spell. While I did not,per,se..speak to dead people I recall viewing an elderly man of venerable aspect in flowing robes standing next to my bed.

"Who in hell are you?" I said.

"I am the Father"he replied in a sepulchral tone.

"Well, where are the damn Son and the Holy Ghost?"I asked rather sharply.

"Uhhh,they're in Milwaukee"he said sheepishly.

I am NOT a religious fellow, but things like this make you reassess your beliefs.

Day Six: Seems to be getting easier each day. The patches are a god send! Now if I could only get the wife to do the things I asked to keep my mind of quitting.

Hang in there. Keep busy this weekend. Stay away from temptation or smoking environments.
Report back Monday.

You can do it Kevin! I loved cigs, but hated being a smoker. It's been a few years now and I cannot even think of starting again.

Thanks again for all the encouragement. I keep falling down but getting back up. If Mrs Pig would do the things the book says to distract me, it would be easier.

The only way to quiet smoking is to do it cold turkey; patches and nicotine gum keep you addicted to nicotine, nicotine will be out of your system with in 3 to 4 days. The real struggle is the habit of smoking. This is how got through the first month: I didn't tell anybody so there would be no out side pressure; didn't drink for a month, for me beer and cigarets were one; I exercised every single day so I could feel the benefits of not smoking.

Live is better with out smoking and not smoking improves your sex live big time but it's harder to pick up girls because smoking outside the bar was always a good excuse to talk to them

Good luck and btw i haven't smoked for 2 and half years

I have been smoking for years and not gotten hooked. Dunno why. I smoke only when I am working on the car.

Sorry, but you are hooked; you are hooked to the habit of smoking while working on your car like other people are hooked to cigarettes when drinking.

People are made believed it's the nicotine, but it's the habit. As soon as you realize that quieting is easy!

I'm like that too. I bum an occasional smoke, then don't even think about a cigarette for months at a time.

Same here. I haven't smoked since July. I had four or five cigarettes in a bar and haven't smoked since.

Sometimes the journey has to be done alone....now cheerleading along the way might be something Mrs. P could do.

To take the place of having a bottle in my hand,I bought an electronic chess game, every time I felt the need to have a drink,I pushed a game of chess. It took 1 yr for the craving to subside, after that I was ok with going to a public or family event where alchohol was being served. The up-side is that I am now laser focused. Letting go of any habit takes a strong will ,determination and balls of steel. Congradulations Sir,now you will extend your life by at least 10 yrs. And if you fall off, dont beat yourself up.~Chilcutt~
