Wouldn't that be higher powers? Or at least eye level... Anyways,, good job Kevin, I quit Oct 12 2003, hopefully for the last time. Since then I've run three 1/2 marathons, and am thinking of training for a full one. I did the Zyban for two days, and then threw that crap out. I really wanted to quit, I guess.

Good luck!

Maybe try another type of smoking to help take your mind off things!

Considering what cigarette's cost today, its cheaper and a hell of a lot more entertaining!

Funny, I recall the exact date of my last cigarette, too. In a way, it's good that quitting is so hard. I really love smoking, I still dream about it. If it wasn't so damned hard to quit, I could easily convince myself that I could do it again. Tell you this, if I ever get the "6 months to live" talk from my doctor, I'm picking up a carton on my way home.

My 30 year run (15-45) with cigarettes ended eight weeks before quintuple by pass surgery. Gave up caffeine the same day, on advice of a gastroenterologist, whom I went to thinking my angina was a stomach ulcer or something.
Going cold turkey on nicotene and caffeine at the same time. Painful.
Lesson learned: Man's ability for self dilusion knows no bounds!

Look in the mirror and repeat after me: "I see a live person. I am too smart to smoke."
My brother, ret. USN career lifer, was in town over the weekend. He's the only child who has continued smoking hs entire adult life. At dinner Fri. night I noticed his smokers hack & cough is getting pretty bad. And he's worrying about his hight BP too
I do wish he would quit.

Hang tough PP.

Kevin,
Congrads on your decision, and your willpower to get to this point.
here is an encouraging story ( at least for me).
My son just passed his year and a half anniversary of quitting after smoking for 10+ years.
He used the commit lozenges.
One WEEK after quitting his boss laid him off--due to no work, not for any cause.
He hung thru it all. My wife and I supplied the Commits as he just didn't have the money.
Lots of life-stresses including getting a new job,and his wife becoming pregnant ( planned). I am now a "Pop Pop" and my son still is not smoking.

If he could do it--you can do it.
The rewards are worth the present pain.

If you need something else to focus on to get your mind off smoking, just look at the Mistress' avatar... Helps me get through long periods of nothingness in some classes....
