It's scarey lately. I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your job, Bryan. Even though I have one, I have a lot of anxiety these days. I hope you can find another one soon.

In the meantime we'll try to cheer you up with more inane adult conversation . . .

I wish I was. San Antonio is still building commercial buildings like theres no tomorrow. I hope it does not end soon, but I know it has to sometime.

My job is pretty safe right now, but our newspaper is laying off a large chunk of people from the newsroom. I hate to see my co-workers so worried about getting laid off ... a lot of them have no alternative and no one to fall back on. I tried to volunteer to be laid off, because I hate my job and have parents I can live with if need be (I'm only 26, I have lots of options for the future). My boss talked me out of it, and said I'm probably the last person in the newsroom they want to leave (partially because I do a great job, and partially because I'm the lowest paid here). So now I feel trapped, and guilty, because everyone around me is losing their jobs, here and elsewhere. Every time I drive home it seems like I see a new liquidation or going out of business sign.

Sorry about your job bgkast ... I hope you can find a new one. There's still money out there somewhere.

Thanks guys (and gals). I've been looking, and it seems like there are still some Civil Engineering jobs out there, just not many in the development sector that I was in. I'm going to start sending out resumes today, but in the mean time I think the family can get by on my Wife's salary. Luckily she works for the government, so it's unlikely that she will loose her job too. Things will be tight though, no more spending on the 'Benz for awhile.
