SL's are more GT cars than sports cars. Remember with Mercedes "sport" is all relative. As a result they ride quite well.

The new SL's are quite porky, they are 4k+ pound cars...they weigh more than my old W126!

There fantastic GT cars though, I would imagin one of the better cars to blast across the country in.

Yep, all of the time I've spent in SLs so far has been quite enjoyable wether it was long or short. A cross country trip in an SL600 sounds like a blast to me.

I went out to start the SL for its first spring drive, it sputtered popped hissed and died. I think the plugs fouled from letting it idle too much this winter.

^^^^^^ So far as *sounds* are concerned,

The cognoscenti, (my young friend,) much prefer the rapturous moans and screams of a beautiful and willing female, over vehiclular noise.

Just sayin'.........

(and I enjoyed having diner and convo with ya' last night.....on to Los Angeles...)

Looks clean and pampered. I can't even see any rock dings on the front end

The headlights though...wasn't there an option for Bi-Xenon lights that looked just as good off as on? (Somthing you might want to look into upgrading)

Bah - wimp!

Darling wife & I have been cross county (CA to CT and back) in my miata (lowered, stiff springs, aggressive tires) multiple times. I've got a spine that looks on x-ray like bamboo, and have never had a moment of soreness or stiffness (even after the occasional, ahem, "recreational" stop along semi-abandoned stretches of Route 66).
