Seriously, this is the new republican tactic.

Racism, and new racism.

I wondered why this and another thread turned to this topic.

Now I know, its the latest talking point released by the right wing megaphones.

And its based on an out of context sentence that was made in a speech 8 years ago.

Well this just might be the death nell of the right wing.

Screaming racist is not gonna get you anywhere anymore.

In fact all of the grunting and pissing is not flying anymore.
(the gays are gonna destroy marriage, the forigners are going to hurt you, hes a baby killer)

All fear mongering bull.

Trying to trigger some sort of selfricheous rage.

This is not 5th grade recess.

And this little jewel is gonna backfire.

The great white north amerikan male is no longer the majority.

Most people are sick to death of this kind of stupidity.

Do you remember the democrat tactics used against previous supreme court nominees? Are they shining examples of how the left's tactics are superior?

The story is just incredible. People were too worried about covering their arses to use common sense. Good Lord, call the parents before you strip search a 13 year old. Interpretation of the law is not something that can be done with the latest generation Big Blue computer, adapted from the chess playing program. Law is law but nuances and unexpected situations are many.

Obama said that he voted against Roberts because his opinons struck him as invariably favoring the powerful over the weak. This is one downside of our system. The richest players have much control over the lawmaking process, and as a result, oddly enough, strict enforcement of those laws can often tend to favor money and power over all else for little rhyme or reason.

The judge is there in part to prevent the law from becoming an ass, which can easily happen. Empathy is a word with broad meaning -- conservative critics leap to the assumption that it means favoring the poor in all matters. But then, foes of Obama have been leaping willy-nilly regarding Sotomayor.

Same crowd were going on back when about all the racists who opposed A. Gonzales for AG.

I am not a democrat or republican.
I am somewhere inbetween.
I am not one of these new religous, selfrichous fear mongering right wingers.
Or one of the old lazy hippy lefties.

There has been a tremendous change from the core values of each party.
The evidence is in, for the case of the right wing.
And we are just starting to collect evidence for the left.

I do my best to sort thru each issue on its own merits.
I do not want to be looking thru the lens of the red or blue pill.

And I agree, the country is bankrupt, and our rights and freedoms have definatly been limited.

Yes, discrimination has been a big issue for the sports teams that are mostly black and for the Japanese products that people seem to be avoiding because it comes from the yellow man.

Here is what happened. They each started out at the bottom and worked their way up slowly. When they reached there, they did it honestly without any handicapping. IOW, they were deemed inferior, equal and then superior.

You apparently have information that hasn't made it into the news reports. When did Judge Sotomayor ever benefit from affirmative action? Since you made that comment, I'm sure you have hard information. Otherwise your statement would be pure racism and I'm sure that can't be the case.

Proponents of affirmative action should take whatever evidence you found on her and use it to support their position. Here is a person who, according to you, would not have made it without affirmative action, but because of affirmative action she has succeeded at every level. Society has definitely benefited from giving her a leg up. I'm just not aware of any evidence that any such thing ever happened. So, please, enlighten us.

Where do you guys get the idea that she got in because of affirmative action? Are you assuming that is the only way a latina gets into Princeton and Yale?

She was something like number 2 in her graduating class at Princeton, so I don't think that affirmative action had much to do with her getting into Yale (where she also excelled).

If her ethnicity helped her get into either school, then thank goodness for those programs because she sure as heck showed that she belonged.

This whole discussion is so disrespectful.
