People who get "glitches" are the ones with really really cheapo hardware, if you buy decent stuff problems are very rare. For a person that likes to do a wide variety of potentially advanced computing tasks, the MAC is much more frustrating and less adaptable.

I complain about MAC's prices because they make a killing on overcharging their customers for the same thing everyone else has, except it has a shiny cover on it and Steve Jobs saying its "fantastic", and "awesome".
I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted for a good price, I hope it works well for you.

Sorry, but I still don't understand why you care how much I pay for my macs. I'm currently using a MacBook Pro that cost about $2000 last year, and it meets my needs perfectly. I have a couple more at home that do their jobs very well. When the time comes I will buy replacement macs, regardless of cost. If I didn't think they were worth the price I wouldn't buy them. If I buy a $400 pair of shoes, are you going to get upset because I could have bought a $50 pair that is "just as good"?

This makes absolutely no sense unless you covet the machine...........which is clearly not the case.

I certainly don't care that an S-550 costs over $100K............clearly way overpriced based upon the product. M/B makes a killing by overcharging their customers for this vehicle because it has a shiny cover on it and the M/B star on the hood.

Do you get your panties in a wad about the S-550? It's the precisely the same situation.

If you really want to get torqued off.............how about the prices of some women's shoes? A fellow by the name of Jimmy Choo makes an absolute killing by selling shoes for $600. per pair...........shoes that he probably paid less than $50 to manufacture.

Plenty of companies capitalize on their name to sell overpriced products. I say...........more power to them..........it keeps our economy humming.

After 20 years of marriage, I have the perfect solution to that problem; don't ask, don't tell.

I don't know why people (including mac fans) take computers so personally, it's just a tool; with a maximum useful life of about 4 years.

i am sick and tired of Apple shoveling their over priced pieces of designer machinery that aren't easily serviced or user serviceable at all for that matter. and sure you can do a lot of cool things with OS X, but thats all you can do, you can't tailor it to your needs.

My consensus is that MACs are for people who don't know how to use computers. and sorry for the mac users here, you are exempt because you are on this forum.

and im tired of them shoveling their crap down peoples throats. their stuff is so expensive that if i were to use the money to build my own computer, or buy a windows machine, i would get so much more for my money. and the fact that they continue to get away from this injustice is just wrong

I can never get enough about Mercedes-Benz owners *****in' about the higher prices paid for Apple hardware . . . Everybody knows that a Honda or Toyota is better and more easily tuned and upgraded by teens to be hyper sports sedans . . .

Apparently there are some, a minority, of Win 7 retail customers who are having install issues resulting in an endless loop of reboots and there are students that downloaded their upgrade that have been having issues with some corrupt install files.

Envy? Shirley U. Jest

PC owners have the luxury of paying lower initial costs (except for Operating Systems); having tons of software written for them, including malware and anti-malware; and get to personally interact with customer support staff around the world, well . . . English speaking former British colonies, at least . . .

I agree.

And, therefore, there should be no response, whatsoever, to another company that charges significantly more for a competing product.

The fact that there is a response, and one filled with vitriol, tells that the individual would prefer to own the product............there cannot be any other explanation.

Keeping my eye on 7, not sure if I will update anytime soon. I'm apparently one of the rare Vista users who has not had any real issues with the OS.

I know a few people who are using vista with no problems, but I know more who just stayed with XP. IMHO, it is always wiser to wait a little while.

I haven't had a problem with XP. I haven't had a problem with Vista (both x32 and x64 versions of Business). I haven't had a problem with Windows 7 RC or RTM. (As a student, having access to MSDN:AA is a blessing ) I also like to tinker, tweak and keep things running well - perhaps this helps. I'm sure it also helps being born into a computer tech-savvy generation

With that said, I do like 7. Its interface takes certain hints from other operating systems (i.e. XGL from linux, for the taskbar window previews). It's clean, and well thought out - they really listened to thousands of beta testers and it shows that. Beyond the learning curve required with any 'new to the user' operating system, it's quite quick to pick up and use. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it on any new computer (even netbooks - I hear it runs great!). Personally, I wouldn't upgrade to it if I had a working operating system (if it isn't broken...), however, for a new computer - go for it

Mrs MTI has a Toshiba laptop that came loaded with Vista and hasn't had any issues with it over the 15 or so months of using it. Navigating the menus was the biggest learning curve. She being a former northern NJ native, if there was any problem with it, fuggedaboutit! . . . know what I mean?

Yep, agree with both previous posts. At some point an update is inevitable. So whatchoogonnado about it?

Biggest Vista gripe was the UAC. Quickly disabled, but even 10 seconds of it was annoying enough.
