I think you are trying to create a standard that no nation passes.
There were nations before the founding of the USA, and I bet a fair number killed on everyday. Wars know no holidays.

According to these guys, Haiti's birthrate is 29.1 per 1000 while the US rate is at 13.82. Can't get a feel for the breakdown between catholic and protestant. Vietnam's birthrate is not high, 16.31. I think though that often immigrants to the US see that they now have the chance, financially, to have a larger family than back at home and they go for it.

I suspect that birthrates have more to do with economics and the type of society (agrarian v. industrial) than the religious tradition of the area. As a recovering catholic, I don't believe that very many educated/affluent catholics actually follow their churches teachings on birth control (or lack thereof). It is possible that there is still a difference in the third world, but I have trouble believing their religion is the primary cause.

Here is simple proof that we are the evil empire builders / terrorists of the world.

Take a look at the manufacturing tag on the clothing you are wearing right now.

You will find that most your clothing was made by our slaves in China.

So I dont get labeled as a " liberal complainer " that never gives solutions to the poroblems I present.

Here are some links to more ethical ways to curb your " made by slaves " addiction.

This parody is making its way around the Web quickly. Best I can tell it comes from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

Dear Pat Robertson,

I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I'm all over that action. But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I'm no welcher.

The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth -- glamor, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake.

Haven't you seen "Crossroads"? Or "Damn Yankees"? If I had a thing going with Haiti, there'd be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox -- that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it -- I'm just saying: Not how I roll.

You're doing great work, Pat, and I don't want to clip your wings -- just, come on, you're making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad.

Keep blaming God. That's working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract.

Best, Satan

Did anyone see the video of the mass graves in Haiti where arms and legs of dead Haitians are left sticking up through the dirt? Today there was news of women being trampled by men in a rush to grab supplies at a distribution center. This is how Haitians treat one another, and with or without demonic inspiration, there is something terribly wrong the place that poverty alone cannot explain.
