What were the old MB slogans?

I hear more and more about the poor quality of these newer models and I think the current slogan "Unlike any other car..." is appropriate considering the elevated quality of competition.

What were the old sales slogans? I remember one was "Engineered like no other car....". I guess that was when MB still had engineers.

The new slogan "Unlike no other car..." probably means it was engineered without engineers.

MOST TREASURED TROPHY IN THE TROVE.

This star is a pledge of quality in every Mercedes-Benz that has no parallel. It is your most treasured trophy on any road.

I've got an ad out of a magazine from 12/79 for the 1980 model line. The tag line is the "Engineered like no other car in the world" but the "title" is "Why choose a Diesel from a line of cars when you can choose a Mercedes-Benz from a line of Diesels?" followed by "For 1980 Mercedes-Benz makes three different sedans, a station wagon, a coupe, three engines and two transmissions. And offers 44 years of Diesel experience."

Pretty cool!

How about "If you have to ask, you can't afford a Mercedes-Benz"

Those articles are cool and all...but they honestly seem very stale, and make the car seem like an appliance with no personality. Pretty long-winded as well. Dunno if I would be sold, were I a new car buyer in 1984.

Thanks for sharing, btw, Tyler.

I always liked the one that went something like this [paraphrased]

"Buy a [.......] because of what other people will think of it.

Buy a Mercedes because of what YOU think of it."
