I see what you mean, but I just think no matter what his state, there needs to be consequences. The tazer was probably a bit overkill if you ask me, but at the same time its not entirely out of the question when you do something like that. When you go and do something stupid, you have to face the music. If I hadn't had consequences when I was that age I'd probably have gone off the deep end--a lot of my friends did because they didn't really see the consequences of their actions.

Will this become a standard method of entertainment at all future games? It would make the 7th inning stretch a bit more interesting.

concerning tasers, it has been PROVEN that a percentage of the population will suffer either permanent heart damage or death as a result of being tazed.
And maybe this will educate him on the error of his ways so maybe next time, he will think carefully before he acts.

So what is it you suggest? Tackle him? Fair enough. Are you 100% sure that in that tackle he cannot get hurt? Football players seem to think otherwise. So what do we do that will keep him 100% safe? Let him do what he wants and when he has finally calmed down, invite him to discuss it over a cup of coffee at Starbucks?

If he was that unstable, lock him up, throw away the key, weld the door shut. If not, the parents are responsible. Yes, I did stupid things when young. Unfortunately for me, you weren't my father or mother and I had to pay for them. Take the time I busted the neighbor's flood lamp. I was made to somehow get him a replacement. Not enough money? No problem. Dad provided it. Repayment terms applied. WITH INTEREST. No job? That's ok. There are jobs to do around the house. I don't know how many times I had to wax the cars by hand for $3 or dig a hole for the tree and get paid $5. Bit by bit, it got paid WITH INTEREST building up so I can't take too much time. At the end of it, I leaned my lesson.

Classic, doing stupid stuff in HS is fun. Getting arrested is fine they seal your record when you turn 18 anyway.

All true. HOWEVER, do you believe that without consequences the kid will magically behave now that he is 18 yrs and 1 day vs 17 yrs 364 days?

He MIGHT or might NOT. However, if he has gotten into stupid habits, maybe not. If you take all the consequence out or reduce it, why would he smarten up? If I could hit you and nothing happens, why would I change that? OTOH, if I get a broken nose everytime I hit you, I learn quick.

Fine. Let them pay for it too

The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to think that this wasn't bad at all. In fact TOTH to the kid who still has a little spirit in him. The rest of us just have to go on with being curmudgeons.

Yeah, and at least one strike, (or two or three depending), against him if a prosepective employer googles his name just for laffs.

No problem there. As a screw up, if you life is more difficult later on, you make way for those who have behaved. More important, you serve as an example to others who are considering such action. When I look at you and see a screwball who is in trouble, it might dawn on me that I don't want to be like you. OTOH, if I see that as a screwball, it isn't that bad, maybe I will have a little fun with being one. Consider yourself as a "Ghost of X'mas YET TO COME". Say you are a raging success, well, I would want to be you. OTOH, as a destitute who is one mean away from starvation, maybe not.

Maybe in CT they do.

I had a background check (Via the Sheriffs Department.) run on a 24 year old potential employee here and was provided records back to middle school vandalism in the 8th grade at age 13.

X2

They don’t do it just for “laffs” either.
I know a few business and quite a few sheriffs departments that go to your Face Book and My Space pages right off the bat when you apply.

They will all tell you that it will tell much more "about you" than any application or interview ever could.
