The last ten years of my Dad's life or so he worked twice a day as a crossing guard. It got him out of the house and he enjoyed it.

One day there were three kids standing, waiting to cross and he heard them talking about him....finally one of them said to Dad..."how old are you?"....Dad said "how old do you think I am?" ( He was like 75)...one of them said, "Old"..Dad persisted, how old?

the little kid said "about 35?"

Dad just heee hawwed!

He loved telling that story.

Now I find it is much harder to guess the age of people between maybe 20 and 40, they all look about the same to me.

I know I'm getting old when everyone below the age of 30 looks like they belong in middle school.

I suck at being able to tell someone's age. But to The Clk Man, due to your lovely youtube videos, I would have guessed in the 40s somewhere. Cool. I'd be right. But since you already said your age, the only other thing I could go on would be too look you up on the How Old Are You? thread! ^_^

55? Seriously? *sigh* What was she thinking?

My first "eureka" moment that I was getting older happened at 30 when I was basically halfway thru my time in the Navy. A bus came down to the pier one day, and discharged a bunch of high school kids that had signed up for delayed entry after they graduated a few months down the road. To me at the time, they looked like infants, and I said out loud to myself "Where the devil did they find these toddlers?". A little voice in the back of my head suddenly spoke up and said "That was you 12 years ago dumba$$!"

OTOH, my friend's son up in Kyle, my "nephew", just turned 11 back in May. I'm 5 ft 10 and wear a size 9 shoe - this kid is already half a head higher than my shoulders, and wears a bigger shoe than I do - with his size and his looks, he could easily pass for being in his mid-teens already. And thankfully his intelligence, maturity, and kind heart seem to be keeping pace with his physical size. Boy's gonna do his parents and his old "uncle" proud.

I never got carded until AFTER I turned 21, then it was every damn time I walked onto the floor of Mohegan Sun with my girlfriend. I went there since they opened it, never got carded. Now that I'm 30, I look well past my age. I don't have to worry about gray hairs unless it's the ones sticking out of my collar, since I've lost enough of my hair that I just buzz it. This past winter I let my beard grow as I always do, and what grew out had a lot of gray. The truly sad part is that my father is just now turning gray at 53, we have looked more like brothers than two different generations since I was in my mid-teens.

Today I was out watering my plants and a person coming up to my house said "is your dad home?". Epic fail. I'm 24 and this is MY house!

Psh, old people not retiring is the reason all the young people have no jobs!

When I was in Florida a few years ago an "interesting" crazy man at a fruit stand said "wow, a 17 year old dating a 12 year old?" When my wife and I came up to him. I should have put an orange down his throat, but forgave him as he is Southern and I understood his limitations.

The freshmen swarmed my school's campus this past week to start classes, hard to believe I was there not too long ago. That was 5 years and 80 lbs ago! These kids were born in the 1990s too, I find that unsettling.
