Cashews will have the same effect as moth balls. My cat will gag and run away at the mere sniff of a cashew.

A leaky compressor

Cats don't like hissing.

Or a water gun, cats don't like water.

Someone mentioned airsoft gun and that would probably work, but the po-po better not catch you in the act.

How about a simple squirt gun? Maybe diluted vinegar in there.

Super-soaker full of ammonia ought to do the trick.

Do you have an animal control facility in your area? If so, give them a call. If not, rent a cage, grab the cat, toss him in it and drive up the road a ways. He now has a new home.

I've never been fond of shooting cats, but that's just my choice.

If you do that witha Domestic Cat they can end up starving because they don't know how to hunt, kill and eat something.

So they turn to eating Garbage. The Cat I adopted that I found living In My Truck was also full of Pin Worms from eating garbage.

I did use a Cage and relocate the Momma Cat of the other Stray Cats I adapted bacause She would attack My first Cat and also She was Pregnant again! I did not want any more Kittens born on My Property.

However, Old Moma Cat was a die hard Alley Cat and knew enough about Hunting that Shee was feeded Her 4 Babies (the 4 Strays that I adopted).

I had an annoying dog problem once and got some of those felt barrel cleaning rounds. Same size as a pellet - I kept them in a film can with mineral oil to give them some weight. I experimented with them (CO2 pellet pistol) and actual pellets on some targets - cardboard, phonebooks, etc. and the felt pellets didn't penetrate anything like the lead pellets. They did make the dog let out a small yelp.

Damn thing was coming at me like I was on his property. Made him an easy target. Did the trick.

not worth it. The area is kinda off the property where I park cars.

But maybe a noise maker would do?

Tried...

my girlfriend refuses to sit outside during the winter. The moment she starts scratching at the window, I cave and just have to let her in.

ok, Get a bunch of oranges. Put the peels in yard or where ever your cat problem is. problem solved. they hate oranges. just refresh them when they dry out.

When our house overseas was being renovated there was always this alley cat who'd sneak up at around 11PM and go through the open grille side door temporarily installed. So I waited in a dark corner with a laser pointer.

When the kitty crawled in, I turned the laser pointer on into the middle of the living room, which had freshly laid ceramic tiles (slippery). This definitely caught his attention and he pointed his ears and eyes at it, and followed the little bright red dot into the living room.

So as the cat got nearer I sprung into action, screaming and chasing the cat around! It just bolted the opposite way, only to realize the floor was slippery and it would just scratch and scratch then slide aaaand BAM!!! it would slam on the wall then it did this again two or three more times in succession - scratch, slide BAM!! ... until it found its way out

Everything became super slow motion and I was so amused then I just stopped chasing and started laughing until the cat scurried away never to be seen again
