Back in high school we'd sneak in beer. Empties dutifully placed on the floor, then they'd roll down to the front. Lolzer...

[QUOTE=psychwarfare;2685710]there's an Acme right next door to our favorite movie theater...and her purse is always on the large side./QUOTE]

Holy cow! Acme is still in business? I remember 50 years ago it was the poor cousin to A&P and Grand Union.

As for movie food, nothing taste better than the overly fat, heavily buttered popcorn that they serve. Lobster dipped in butter comes close, but you can't get a half gallon of lobster for $7.00.

According to this, the popcorn may be the cheapest part of a movie date

“That is ridiculous to take a friend or that special one to see a movie,” Welsh said. “Plus if you take the girl you like your spending up to $45 because you have to treat the girl with the movie ticket and popcorn and candy to make everything right. It’s just what you have to do on a date if you want the girl to like you.”

Son, if she liked you, she'd pay you back, if you know what I mean . . .

I loved reading some of the comments, ranging from the health police-type who were ready to lynch the theater owners for what was in the popcorn, to your basic WGAS. One gent pretty well summed it up by saying "it's only for two hours, you're not going to starve to death and no one's forcing you to buy it, you already know it's unhealthy, so what's the fuss?". I was rather surprised that only a couple picked up on the $6 sale to 20 cent cost to make angle - apparently a 3000 % profit margin is ok when it comes to movie popcorn.

My wife has a "12 pack purse" that she takes on the rare occasion we go to a movie. That tub of buttery salted popcorn just doesn't mix well with soda for me! I would gladly buy the beer from the theatre if they sold it, although it would probably take $200 to catch a buzz at their prices. Oh, and beware of open full beers left behind on the floor as they are probably "recycled"!!
