I don't even agree with a lot of what OWS is saying. But I'm glad that it is being said, and fully support their right to say it AND to demonstrate.
I'll go along with that for the most part. I think it's time to put on hiatus for awhile however. My experience with a similar vigil colors my thinking.

Back in 1990 a group in Seattle did an occupy protest thingy at GasWorks Park in Seattle after a free concert there corresponded with the beginning of Desert Storm. The vigil was dubbed 'Peaceworks Park. ' I was into it, people were thinking it was a grab for military glory by GW Bush. Before long, about 20 or 30 chronic street drunks attached themselves to it and were an enormous pain in the ass.

Always panhandling, hitting on ladies, just making noise and nuisance and nothing else. I haven't been surprised that rowdy losers would be found among the ranks of them at the various occupy scenarios. It's unfortunate and I don't consider those people the chief representatives of the scene. It is heading it in the direction of public nuisance though.

Yeah, I have Basic Cable. I used to watch C-SPAN when Brian Lamb did a lot of book reviews with authors. I wish more journalists were like him.

I watch Morning Joe when I stagger into the kitchen and make coffee for me and the missus. I watch Adrea Mitchell while I eat lunch. I watch Special Report in the evening after work while I cook dinner for me and the missus. My home page is GoogleNews, which i scan whenever i log on. Once or twice a week I read Al Jazeera and BBC News. Also NY Times a couple times/week. I spend a lot of time on a website Kerry Edwards recommended a number of years ago Arts & Letters Daily - ideas, criticism, debate . For which I remain grateful. I read 1 hour every night before bed. Usually a novel but sometimes a work related journal.

Way back in the 70's during anti war protests some PoPos would pickup addicts and drunks and drop them at the demonstration. Instead of detox.

Waterboarding the way the US does it is a known interrogation tactic that works. Sorry you don't like it, but people better and braver than you are using things like this every day to protect you.

Lets strap you down and drip some water up YOUR nose and see low long its not torture then.....

Yep, I'm afraid the Americans win this game from experience.

been there, done that....in a training environment. not pleasant, not pleasant at all, but not torture... .it wil lmake you talk rather quickly. I actually admire the guy KSM(?) who lasted so long before sqwaking. hard mental mindset to be able to resist the feeling one is going to drown....

How many people get this treatment who actually know nothing? How many people laugh at the poor bastard? It's one thing to talk about it but it is a sick world where it is condoned and where it actually happens. If everyone got what they really deserve, who would have the wet nose, etc?
