"British Airways restriction of use, it must only be used for static display, your written acceptance of this is a requirement of sale."

The seller wants a lot of money for a display piece.

...with reheat.

Typical British understatement. Reheat sounds like a cooking selection on a microwave oven.

Rolls Royce vehicles NEVER break down. They "Fail to Proceed".

Furthermore, they are not automobiles (which are for mere mortals and plebians). The are PMC's. <-------- "Proper Motor Cars".

Multiply by about 5X, minimum, for new.

I guess that makes sense. I just looked it up and the whole plane went for around $39,000,000 in 1977 which translates to over $147,000,000 in today's dollars.

That pricing had to be largely political. That's a hugely expensive aircraft with very limited production.

If you discounted every penny of engineering, I'm quite sure that you still could not build it for $39M in piece part costs back in 1977.

If you built it today, it would cost well over $300M.

Remember, speed costs money............and lots of it...........Mach 2.0 results in an airplane considerably more expensive than a B-747, even though it's significantly smaller.

Complete speculation on your part. What could you POSSIBLY know about jet engine manufacture?

Meh..........I know enough to get into trouble............

We're heavily involved with Pratt on the new NGPF engines. They have three of them going at the same time...........one for the Bombardier, one for the Mitsubishi MRJ, and the larger one for the Airbus A-320.

Here's a tool that we recently completed for the new GEnx engine on the 787:
The OD is 46" diameter. The top surface (where the engine components sit) is flat to within .001"

Price seems high. Remove the static display restriction and drop the price and I'll bet some half crazed retired engineer, most likely in the southwestern U.S., will buy the thing and do something nuts like land speed racing with the thing.

Or a purchasing agent from a 3rd world airline will buy to fix one of their grounded planes.

Wouldn't work, Larry. Texas baling wire is standard gauge. You could order from here:
Baling Wire - UK baling wire manufacturers - tying wire - bundling wire - black annealed baling wire - UK wire manufacturers baling wire - circular spacers - wire spacers

for the proper size.
