Looks like his filibuster starts to backfire.

Yes, as long as you are a current recipient of food stamps.

I am pleased that Holder made the WH position clear and unambiguous. This is a much cleaner answer than the earlier rambling one. If this had been the original response, there would have been no need for the filibuster.

"It has come to my attention."

Pay attention. It's only been in the news since 2009.

So he gets the Administration to state the obvious.

BFD.

Does anyone really believe that the Administration is now stopped in their tracks because of a letter written by Holder?

If the Administration had ideas to violate the law prior to the letter you can GD well bet that they haven't changed their position one whit because of it.

The Government does whatever the hell it wants to do............go and try to stop 'em. Look at the Patriot act if you have any doubts. Absolute suspension of due process whenever they decide you're an "enemy combatant".

The legal use of deadly force in this country is regulated mostly by state laws.

Rand by his making a big deal is implying that the act of killing American citizens on our own soil has or might happen. Is there any evidence of this happening? I don't think so.

His filibuster was all for show for the far right.

Even John McCain blasted him for it yesterday.

There is no reason to distrust the government. The government loves us and protects us and makes bad people go away.

Flowers and puppydogs for everybody!

Governments are unconstrained by laws. Governments are constrained by the will of the people. Bringing this drone business before the American people and forcing the mdeia to report on it can be nothing but good for us all.

Finally, let us all imagine electing a president who is a more ardent true-believer than Obama and has fewer compunctions about lethal force than Bush. Think it couldn't happen?

The Patriot Act was heavily reported by the media and the American People have accepted it.

It's not going away anytime soon despite the fact that the rights of American citizens are severely compromised because of it.

All a government needs to do to restrict rights is to craft the law in such a way that it is directed to people "other than the citizen". The unfortunate aspect is that the population doesn't realize that they are "the citizen".

I'm quite sure the government could get away with hitting a citizen with a drone strike, provide they labeled him an enemy combatant. AFAIK, it's perfectly legal to do so, Holder's statement notwithstanding. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Clearly, if there's a citizen, or non-citizen, in the US, that is about to cause serious injury or harm to another, then the use of deadly force is not a crime. If that same suspect is outside his house watering the flowerbeds, the use of deadly force would not be protected.

Who decides?

Does the government need to get a judge to decide...........or not?

Yeah, BC, when a police officer (government employee) sees a suspect aim a weapon at another, he calls a time out to get judicial approval. Yup, that's how it goes.
