Since the subject here is religion: The location of Mr. Cool's balancing act was almost directly over the most sacred place on earth to the Hopi people. It's so sacred that Grand Canyon National park prohibits Colorado river runners from hiking there. Religious leaders from the Hopi tribe had lodged protests in advance of this stunt, asking that it be relocated in deference to their faith, to no avail.
I wonder why he didn't do his stunt in some christian cathedral?

Isn't that kinda like idiots who can only say "I was brought up......"? When someone says that, it gives me the impression that they cannot think for themselves and can only regurgitate what they were told regardless of whether it is appropriate or not. Would YOU give a pass to the child of a Nazi who said that he wants to kill Jews because he was brought up that way? Or how about a Klansman who wants to kill black people because he was brought up that way?

I'm not sure what you said Aklim, but it sounds as if you're not a fan of the constitution.

Regardless of whether I am a fan or not, I have to abide by it since that is the society I chose to live in. If I choose to move to England, I abide by what their version of it is. Liking has nothing to do with it.

That said, let me give you a car example. I took my Vette that made 245 HP at the crank to make 410 at the wheels. Same with the constitution. It was the best start AT THAT TIME they could muster. It doesn't mean it has to be that way for the rest of eternity. Sharia law might be the best the ME has to start a society. Does it mean it has to be that way for eternity?

Drunken posting does not make you sound intelligent...no matter how hard you try.

No. Don't know why, but when people try to force their religion on me, it makes me pretty angry.

I will stop talking to people as a result of this.

For me that is EVERY single day of my life. Because of the abuse of them that has completely ruined civility in everyday American life.

Even my girlfriend has one, (though she's very considerate about not using it while with me) and while I understand it's useful while setting up a meeting with a faraway friend while traveling, or an emergency, or if you are an MD on call, it shouldn't be the focus of one's life.

The human race seems to have managed to get by for, uh, 10 million years without them, right?

I worship fast, safe, good looking, fun-to-drive German automobiles.

It's been good to know you.

All the best to you in the future....

Now excuse me, the car keys are calling my name.

Again!

Science and logic are limited by the capacity of the human mind and are thus a creation of it for our own purposes. Something so many humans automatically assume is that we are the pinnacle of all that could ever exist and that there is no greater level of understanding. What if there are whole dimensions to existence we can neither see/explain/understand? Maybe humans have Ego's a few sizes too big and brains a few sizes too small.

The atheist argument places its foundations on the idea that we have a solid understanding of everything there is to know, this is essentially a human ego-trip. Believing in God and following a religion is based on faith. I'd rather believe and be wrong than not believe and be wrong. Going by the atheist view of "when dead its all over", then what does it matter if you believed and were wrong? Its not like you get a special treat for it or something.

I guess I would rather believe in something that can be proven based on the things that we think we know which could be wrong as opposed to believing in something that there is absolutely know proof of and has hundreds of variations.

Not sure about the treat after you die. I don't think there is any thing after you die so it really does not matter to me. Even if there is something how do I know what to believe. Romans, Greeks, Hindu, Muslim, Native American....

I'm not saying there are no other dimensions out there. It has yet to been proven to exist. Could it? Absolutely. OTOH, saying Pegasus the winged horse exists when no proof of it is, of course another story.

Almost sounds like the deity is too stupid and/or desperate and will accept a belief even if it is basically an "insurance belief".
