Because the local PD saw no evidence Z had done nothing other than defend himself. Then it was politicized, BY WHOM? WH?? DOJ??

If he really did nothing wrong, then why is his life ruined? If anything, he should be glad that he can't ever be tried for this again.

Statute of limitations on murder is unlimited, so if he wasn't tried, he could have been charged again in 30 years.
