Some can afford to commute. Heck, if i could work while driving, I could eek out a few more billable hours. That would more than pay for the commuting time and related costs.
One of the arguments in the article or in a related article I read today suggested one of the tools of the V2V tech was to tax and insure by the mile. I thought taxation at least in part was done in the form of fuel tax, and insurance has an annual mileage cap in most cases.
What is your other objection? People are gonna drive unless it's cost prohibitive.
