Apparently at least in this example a large group of the Saudi Muslims are ready to jump ship when there is no Law to keep them from doing so.

This could be the same for the other Muslim Nations.
Depending on the country, I think that could be true. The guys I knew had no individual moral center. I'm not saying that as a critique. It's just what happens in countries in which law controls almost everything. There's no opportunity to develop self-discipline and critical judgment because it's all done for you by force. It's not really conducive to a 'rational' 'free' and 'creative' society. People need to be taught how to make moral decisions for themselves if we don't want an authoritarian society.

I'm surprised the Tea Party isn't all over this issue. Imagine the amount of money the government could save by shutting down the DEA and eliminating all drug enforcement activities.

I think they have designated them self as part of the moral police and as such they are willing to spend money to save us from our selves.

In TX we still have blue laws. Can't by alcohol till after 12n on Sun. The good thing is pretty much any county that has a ballot initiative to go 'wet' wins over overwhelmingly. My county just went wet so they will let you get plastered on booze and smoke nicotine but weed is bad??????

Stupid

And, again it is always a failing of a Policy or Law or Society that is to blame for the Individuals lack of common sense.

What is coherent to me and what is coherent to others differs a lot.

As I stated several times in this thread in the Past we had at least as far as substance abuse goes when had a healthier society they We do now.

It is true that the smoked and drank Alcohol but at least those things generally took a long time to kill them.

The sad issue with Alcohol use in the past is that Drunk Drivers repeat ably got off when caught but over time that has changed.

I know the above stuff because I live through that time and I compare it to now.

Saving people these days is like throwing a Live Preserver to a drowning Person but they refuse to grab a hold of it because they don't want to.

How do you do that?
I think I leaned by the example of My Parents and Religion.
The other thing is that growing up Society was strict with Chidren and also protected them better; so the Society around Me taught Me I was going to have to own up to what I did and how I acted.

I don't think there is any sort of training coures or school that is going teach what was everywhere in the Society I grew up in.

The Law changed close to My 18th Birthday to allow 18 year olds to vote and essentially be legally and Adult.

Up until that time you had to be 21 years old to be considered and Adult.
Perhaps that extra 3 years of not being allowed to be a Full Adult kept People somewhat under their Parents Thumb and allowed them an other 3 years to mature and learn to make decisions before they were loss on society by themselves.

Not on this Forum but I speak to People and say that the People who Drink also smoke Weed someone always tells Me that no, they only smoke Weed.

Yet I have witnessed enough People drinking and smoking Weed at the same time to know that the Person who only smokes Weed is not the norm.

I actually prefer People to only smoke weed to ones who drink in excess because people that get drunk are more problematic.

But, what I see as the problem is that the majority of the People I have met that got high on something on a daily basis had that cause them problems.
2 People I know died due to their Methamphetamine use and 2 others moved on to becoming Heroin addicts (I met the Guy where I worked; after moving on to Heroin He Mugged an Old Lady and went to Jail; after becoming an Heroin Addict His Girlfriend went to Jail for prostitution).
So the Morality Police lacked the Power to save the above People.

Well then its settled. We should criminalize all alcohol consumption, make it a schedule 1 drug.

You need to get out more. I know plenty of people who only smoke weed, but won't touch alcohol. I don't think one is dependent upon the other either way.

Having seen all the human carnage alcohol has caused in this country over my lifetime, I personally have NO problem whatsoever with witnessing your desire come true.
