OTOH, I do. As long as it is their favorite guy in charge. Are conservatives any different? I don't see it unless it is the liberal that is stating it. I can honestly say that from conversation with liberals and conservatives, their support of government depends on whether it is them and their favorite guy at the trough or not. If so, life is good. If not, govt sucks.

About half the time---when a repub ( liberal or conservative) is in the White House, Progressives have no trust in government. When a democrat inhabits the WH, there seems to be nothing but trust in the government.

The cynicism exhibited by liberal toward government disappears when a democrat is the President.

It depends on the situation. I know a lot of Conservatives. Some are very hard core and I trust them to do what they are experts in. I have never been let down.

Where I don't trust them is where they start butting their nose into my business and telling me how to run things and how I should live my life. The US Constitution is nothing more than a distraction to these people in that they want what they want and they do not give a fig if anyone agrees with them. There are not two sides to every question; there is their side and that is it. Compromise is considered weakness and not a means to a solution for a problem.

When they start meddling in subjects they clearly have no knowledge of then no, I do not trust them. Anyone can step outside of their field of knowledge but Conservatives do it on a regular basis and then cannot understand why anyone would not think their opinions are not facts.

I understand what you are saying. What I don't agree with is the part where liberals ALSO meddle in our business. I see both parties being in the pandering business. When you pander, you will interfere with personal business. If only liberals can stick to simply being a referee in the game, I'd feel a lot better. In my book, pandering is pandering. I don't care which group, what cause or what justification you give. Meddling is still meddling.

There are too many shades of coloring to permit definitions that no one could find fault with.

The ironic thing is that "Conservatives" want to conserve very little. That term was correct in its historical context, but not so much, now. Similarly, the democrat socialists of today have very little in common with the democrat party of, say 50-60 years ago.

Conservatives are progressives now? Always thought the tea-party had a left leaning agenda.

Doubt you will find socialists in the democratic party of today, if they are there it's a negligible minority with no power. So why the fear?
