All of the weather forums have downplayed this one quite a bit. Yesterday's projections were over 36 inches on log island and north nj...apparently this has been one of the most difficult storms to predict in years due to the clipper feeding into a coastal low. Very sharp precip cutoff...I've got my fingers crossed for a snow day tomorrow!

OK, now I'm seriously pissed. The local weather dude said 1" to 3" (who cares), then says maybe 2" to 4" (no big deal). THEN he says 4" to 6". C'mon man! The heaviest snow was supposed to be between noon and 3PM. REALLY? WTF? It's still comin' down like crazy!
I told the Mrs., I got one word for ya'. ARIZONA!!! She doesn't wanna hear it. She actually likes this s**t! She want's to go live in upstate NY! I'm gonna miss her....... OK, so I'm ranting, I know. I actually liked snow when I was a kid, but now? Eff it. I really started hatin' it when my kids started driving. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/open-discussion/366267-you-just-cant-make-up.html |

Not bad here either. Raining, but we always need to get all we can. When I stepped off the Eastern Airlines DC-9 in Augusta, GA. in early March of one year from STL, to begin my training assignment as a youngster in my early 20s - I knew I was never going back up there to the tax and rust belt! |

The good thing about snow in the south is that there never is much of it.
The bad thing about snow in the south is since it never snows that much there is very little snow removal equipment around. In luie of snowplows the county owned road graders are often pressed into service. They can clear off the roads but that leaves the ice and that is usually worse than the snow. Texas has started laying down a chemical of some type a day or so before a big storm to help the ice melt away. It leaves long lines on the road but it seems to work at least a little. And after the ice melts it washes the lines off the roads. |

When I'm in the mood for snow I go up to Tahoe, Shasta or Mammoth to get it out of my system then I go back to the low lands where the summer never ends. Who the **** wants to deal with that cold white crap for months on end?

Picked up 6 inches yesterday. It's all melting today and supposed to be 55*F. Fwiw if all the modeling is telling the meteorologists one thing and then Mother Nature throws a curveball, they can't really do much about it. Also it hasn't been uncommon this winter for the 4-5 models to all disagree with each other.

I went cross-country skiing in Central Park quite a few times this winter. No need to even drive up to Tha'ho. |
