Suginami, the combo looks outstanding.

Does anyone know where to buy the: 1) merc logo shift knob and stalk and 2) chrome shifter surround for a 1993 w201?

I checked performance products and the eris site but could not find.

Also, are there two versions of the chrome shifter surround (stick on and other)?

Thanks

www.slaccessories.com has the pieces for the shifter, including the threaded shaft ($20) which allows you to update the knob. The chrome surround for the later model W201 consoles is always on Ebay.

I can't decide whether or not to go for the chrome shifter-surround as there's no other chrome in the cabin apart from the door handles. hmmmmmmmm.

One bad thing about the 124 compared to 123, 126 etc- not enough chrome!

I think it is kinda lonely but I like it and nobody really notices it... unless he/she is a 124 fanatic. Most people take it that it's stock.

I have a earlier model W201's (84 and 85) so the chrome surrounds that are available don't fit my console, it's a bit smaller than the newer ones. As for my shifter, my wife bought me one from a NJ company, Black Forrest Concepts, that seemed to have the lowest price on a zebrano wood shifter, the one that's one piece. I'm using some AMG wood trim (door handles, dash) as templates to create some Hawaiian koa wood trim for the W201. Performance Products might have the shifter shaft adapter for a little less $, but I haven't looked recently.

Performed a Google search for Black Foresst Concepts but could not find--do they have a web site? Do you know how much the Zebrano wood shifter was being sold for? A fellow member has one for $50.

Lastly, how do like the look and feel of the all wood shifter?

Thanks

www.blackforestconcepts.com (go figure!)
actually, they're located in TX, and prices for shifters are very good.

I checked the invoice that my wife got, and it's from
www.benzplus.com , which is in NJ and few $ more than Black Forest. I recall that the decision she made was that their picture showed the zebrano shifter with the longer tapered wood, rather than the one that abruptly ends at the shaft. Can't tell from the Black Forest page how the knob tapers, so it was safer to order from benzplus.

As for the feel, it being an automatic, you don't get to feel it too often, compared to a manual shifter. It feels nice, but on a manual trans, I probably would opt for a leather knob. The zebrano does brighten up the rather stark W201 cockpit.
