Wierd car parts stolen

I was in the local M-B dealer awhile back(needed a part right away), and the fella in front of me at the parts counter was trying to get a new front passenger seat for his '86 300 SE. Seems he went out to his car one morning to go to work, and the seat was gone! Nothing else was taken or damaged. Go figure!
BTW, the dealer could only get him the seat frame, which would need to be padded and upholstered.

I saw a guy on a street corner selling new/old MB passenger seats!

But I think the star emblem on the grill is the hot theft item on these cars...mine was "tampered with" a couple of days ago, but still intact.

An aquaintance of mine had his $800 Tannabe "fart-can" muffler stolen from his "ricer-mobile"...he had bolted it on instead of welding it...go figure!

LOL The "performance" part of that remains to be seen.

Seats are somewhat common, I think.

I remember, a local VW dealer had a Golf GTi 'Colour concept' on its forecourt. The CC has colour coded full leather interior (mix of black and the exterior colour).

All the seats were stolen in the night.

Maybe he was pulling the parts guy's chain. There is no 86 300SE in the US.

An S-class power seat must weigh over 80-lb. It'd be easier to run away with a 32" TV.

Yeah, don't they know all they have to do is take the label off a can of Folgers and bolt that onto their original muffler? Just as effective at a fraction of the cost!!

If you go on Ebay and look up 'theft' its quite common to see recovered sports cars with there interiors striped out. Seats, door panels, headlights, etc. I was always surprised that they were chopping the cars, but maybe those just don't make it to ebay. I'm can't imagine why there'd be such a demand for interior parts....

An $800 muffler is probably in the same class as the guy in town with the $1200 (each) wheels with the little windmill spin thingy that keeps turning after he stops (I swear it's true)

Back when I had my '73 MGB, I used to park it in the office building with the top down so that theives wouldn't cut the top. The radio was crummy and there really wasn't anything to take. Then I bought some black rubber MG floor mats from Moss Motors and within a month they were gone. What really tick'd me was that it had to be another MG owner since the mats were made for them.

I had someone break a window to steal the crappy stock radio and shiftknob out of my little POS Mazda Pickup truck back in college. The best part? -It was unlocked!

I had a 1991 Honda Accord Coupe EX, stolen in 1995, for the 2 front seats, door panels, and steering wheel. Everything else was left, really nice stereo, CD's, 17 inch wheels. Weird.

I guess I got it a bit mixed up. I just remember it was an 3XX SE, W126 body. I saw the car myself sitting out front of the parts dept, minus the seat.
