The trunk is a better spot for an amp not only for the cooling aspect of it, but security wise. Someone can steal an amp alot easier if its in the interior than the trunk.

I dont recommend plywood. They are prone to extreme vibrations. Buy some MDF or a similar material called Novoply. 1/2" or 5/8" should be good.

Yup. My car has four screws that hold down the cover. Its easy to change the shift knob tho. I just updated mine from the rubber one to the newer leather type shift knob.

I made sure that the brake fluid was at the "MAX" mark while bleeding the brakes. Im not sure if that was good enough or not.

The brakes hoses shouldnt be a problem...
