Safety would be a good thing. An explosion-proof flashlight would be advisable. Careful with the sending unit. It's pretty delicate inside. I recommend also, to re-install it using a new gasket.

The first number you mention refers to a factory reconditioned transmission. The latter would be original to that car.

I had a BOSCH reman on a 123.123. The nut on the pulley backed itself off while heading up I-5. That was a surprise. Made no odd noise what so ever. I just happened to notice bizarre gauge behavior.
